How to correct the butt sliding in circuit racing
I went to the track yesterday and found that my car was sliding its butt when I cornered agressively. My rear tires are flat but I dont know if new tires or a wider setup is needed and can correct the problem. Has this happened to anyone?
Tires: Flat and bald Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 255/45/17 with stock base rims.
Car: Base completely stock. Only invested in brakes. No LSD. No suspension modifications of any kind.
I want to go the right path. Thank you for sharing.

This thread belongs in the racing forum but...
before you run out and buy stuff like tires and front anti-sway bar, how about more practice. You are entering the corners too fast. You are driving the line improperly. You are accelerating too soon out of a curve. There are lots of fixes such as dropping rear tire pressure a couple of pounds and competition tires, but none of these mods have an advantage over practice.
Not to be a Smart Alex but there is a old racing quote that goes something like this: Fix the driver first then the car.

Yes, first track event. It was based on time intervals. I was 27th out of the 34 participants. Mostly modified Evos, Sti, 3rd gen Rx-7, E46 M3. Its a track designed for go-carts so you dont go higher than third gear. Very tight curves.

Summit Point, WV. 11/19/04.
The reason that I mention practice is that you will always see less capable cars with practiced drivers out racing more capable cars driven by novice racers. One of many examples is above: the Sentra overtaking a 350Z (note 350Z driver signaling Sentra to pass).
