Default Just got in a car accident

So while I was changing lanes a lady who wasnt paying attention to the road slammed into the side of my car. My left door and front left fenders are destroyed, doesn't look like there is any damage to my volks or my engine and i was still able to drive it home. The engine sounds perfectly fine. im not too knowledgeable on this stuff, but although my engine was not hit what possible damages could it suffer? I really hope it's just body damage, although looks like my door, fender, and sideskirt are gonna need to be replaced.

glad you're fine... did you spin out or was it just a side to side incident... those tend to be not as bad as head on or head to side collisions....

on a side note, if you were changing lanes, it is your responsibility to make sure there are no other cars... the other lady didn't have to look out for you, you had to look out for her... unless both of you were changing into the same lane...

the Z has poor visibility more so on the right than left...

If you can see any fluid dripping (and all your fluids are topped off) then its safe to say that your engine is ok..... Thats just your engine though

Nah only do that if youre really hurt. You wouldnt want something like that happening to you. I say just get some legit *** paint job and repair. And then have her pay you for the drop in value of your car.

thanks for the thoughts guys. so i had an adjuster evaluate the whole accident and according to him, if i had been a few feet back that SUV would have slammed into my driver side window and possibly killed me upon impact. i guess i should be thankful that im not dead and my cars not totalled. car should be going into the body shop tomorrow for estimation and stuff like that. How long do you guys reckon it takes for the door, fender, sideskirt to be replaced and painted?

Five days. A couple of days to get the parts, and a couple of days to do the labor. And a couple of days to eat the grundle.

Glad that you are ok! I can't tell you how many times I had close calls like that and had to switch lanes or swerve onto the median to avoid an accident... and it was always somebody else switching into my lane. People just don't pay much attention these days. It happens even more when I'm in my SUV. If it happens in the Z, I can understand somewhat... its a small car and stuff... but the SUV is huge! Hope you get your Z back soon and that all is good.

i havent gotten any of the pictures developed yet but basically my left door, fender and sideskirt are destroyed and need to be replaced. the lady in the SUV had a cracked front bumper where the impact occurred. she claimed to insurance that she was hurt during the accident although she told me she was fine the moment after she got out of her car. the car is still in the shop for estimation and stuff.

The insurance company believes that it is the fault of the SUV, right?

Glad your not hurt and the Z made it out without motor damage! I had someone in a trailblazer go from the far left lane to the right lane (4 lanes) where I was. If I wouldn't have slammed on my brakes they would have took out everything from the driver door forward last night. Good thing the car behind me forseen me hitting my brakes.
