Default need help

wrong forum i know, but i did a search and couldnt find anything and need an answer asap. I was changing my wife's brake pads tonight. i was doing the front left, then i was going to go to autozone with the caliper and see if it could get turned, and get pads at the same time. They didnt have pads (i called earlier and they said htey did). I put the old pads back on, and the pedal now makes a loud "air puff" noise when the pedal is pressed in. The pedal doesnt feel funny but the noise is definitely noticable. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what this might be, i am trying to fix first thing in the am because she needs her car.
thanks
andy

Loosen the caliper bolt and swing it upwards.. then press the brake pedal to see if the caliper is moving in and out and its not locked up.

i wouldn't do that because you could push the piston out too far.
