Anyways...Both rear tires are on the front and I think they hitting/ rubbing something and that's what causing the shaking...(it feels and sounds like I have a flat tire). Do you think this could have caused any major damages? I haven' t driven the car yet but I'm debating on driving it the 15 minutes back to the dealership...

Anyways, think twice before you take your car to Performance nissan!

Don't drive it.

Call the dealer, tell them exactly how they screwed it up and DEMAND a flatbed to come and pick it up.

Vova, That pin is suppose to keep the rear wheels from mounting on the front hubs according to the manual. Supposedly the rear wheels don't have the hole for the pin to fit inside.

I don't doubt that the pin is to prevent this from happening but if you remove it the rotor won't shoot off or anything. It's just a screw. If someone could remove two different sized tires and rotate them and ignore then fact that it has a directonal rotation on them them removing the screw would be he least of my worries.

That's all I'm saying....those dummies

Default HELP!

Well I talked to the service rep at the dealership and first he argued with me that the 17in wheel package COULD be rotated and that it had to be that I needed new tires...and that because the car was so powerful it needed to be rotated every 6000 miles....After strongly disagreeing with him on this and telling him what the manual says, he said he would talk to his tech that serviced the car and for ME to call HIM BACK...

I called him back after an hour or so and he apologized and agreed that they messed up, and suggested I drive the car back to the dealership...I told him I didn't feel comfortable driving the car and then suggested that I take it to a local garage and have them do it--on my tab!

I just don’t get it! He did say something about a free oil change next time, but there is no way in hell I'm taking it back there so that’s worthless to me. -Also, this "bolt missing" on the rear caliper is making me nervous...even if I rotated the wheels back myself, where's the bolt?

Should I call Nissan HQ on this one?
Thanks for the advice guys!

If there is bolt missing on the rear caliper, definately get it looked at before you drive it. Have you brought this issue up with the dealer. I'd at least get a refund on that ****-poor service.

Things like this are what makes me wary of taking my car in for service. Not just Nissan, but everywhere.

OK, now its time to get in touch with the Dealership manager.

The service guys obvoiusly F'ed up and are not doing anything to try to make it right. Explain the screw up and the lack of effort by the service dept to rectify the situation. (a free oil change is ludicris). You are very unhappy with the competence of the service tech that worked on your can and the service rep that you talked with. Unless the problem is resolved immeadiatly to your satisfaction, you will be taking you business elsewhere. Your in Atlanta, so there is more than one dealership. See what happens. If the Big guy does nothing, be sure to report the whole incident to NNA.

Even if you have already decided not to go back to this dealership, I would contact the Manager anyway and let him know that you will not be returning and why. If nothing else, it might lead to a no-talent monkey getting the can so as to to threaten other customers vehicles.

The alignment bolt is actually on the front rotor, you would need to remove the wheel to see it, however, since the wheels are in the wrong place you will be doing this anyway.
The backpad of the front wheel is hollow between the lug nuts, the rear wheel is solid. This bolt is situated on the rotor face between 2 of the lug studs, protruding out. This is the pair I removed from my car when changing the wheels.

EEEK! They are SCARY!!! Did you buy the car from them??

I went by there when I was waiting for mine to come in and saw the first Z they had come in. It was a nice Chrome Silver Per4formance 6-spd.

THEN...they pasted that STUPID day-glow-green "PERFORMANCE" stciker on the back!!! What morons! It looked HORRIBLE!

Of all the dealer marks/stickers/etc this one is sooo ugly on ALL color cars...it doesn't blend in at all.

Anyway...back to the point.

When I wanted to preorder they had NO CLUE about the preorder program, so I took my business to a much better dealer. I've been by there a few times, most of the people I talk to there are not-so-bright or newly hired and not fully trained. Now that I've heard your experience, plus my previous expereince with the sales personnel, I would NEVER take my Z there -- NEVER NEVER NEVER -- even though it is super-convienent (I work across the street two days a week!).

Thanks fo the report/waring. I hope that you get everything fixed back without issue.

BEWARE. The techs do not know what they are doing!!! I have had some work done to my Z (new tires, new tranny, door trim panel) and the techs messed up every time. My friend had to have his window fixed, and they did not fix it, after charging him $200 claiming that warranty did not cover this type of damage. I have taked to others that had stories of the techs making big mistakes.

Look at it this way. THEY havent worked on the car before. YOU have not worked on the car. A tech is no different than you except he has no vested interest in doing the job right. I had to go back and fix an issue myself, because I have an interest in REALLY sitting down, thinking of the problem and solving it with patience. These things are not available to a tech. They dont care to problem solve.

TECHS GET PAID 1/8 TIME FOR WARRANTY! THIS IS LESS THAN MIN. WAGE...so can you blame em?

When did you talk to them about the preorder... I orderd my car there and it has be serviced there and not a single problem... probably (from my expreences) one of the best dealerships out there. I am always taken care of and if I have any reaquests they are atended to... Who did you talk to at the dealership??

350bread who specifically did you talk too??? I know most of the managers there and almost every one on staff there knows my car if not me... I am takin my car in this weekend for my second oil change so jsut was wondering who you talked to...

I am shocked that this happened and something seems out of place... not accusing you of anything jsut want to get more info for my reference

Oh killermove.. I will have to agree with you that is one ugly dealer sticker... on my request it never saw the bumper of my car

What dealer in ATL did you go to? Us ATL folks need to know so that we don't take our cars there.

Way back on 1/15/02 -- jsut after pricing was announced and I was looking to place an order. While other dealers were ready to take my deposit, Performance Nissan didn't know the pricing was announced. I briefly spoke with the Sales Manager, but apparently I was either too young looking (I had just turned 22 at the time), or he just had more important stuff to do -- he pretty much blew me off.

I asked him why they wer the only Nissan dealership aroud that didn't have the info and ability to take a pre-order on Nissan's biggest, most important car for the year.

Instead of giving me some stupid excuse, he decided to try to argue that the Z was NOT the most important car release for Nissan this year, it was the Sentra SE-R!!

Opinion asside, don't you think if he really wanted my business he might try do something other than say I'm down right wrong?

As for the other salesman I talked to there, one guy was a fairly young stcoky black man -- nice but didn't know what he was tlaking about. Another was a newbie - stil in training. He had the decency to tell me that he didn't know, he was still learning and it was he first week -- fair enough. The last guy I talked to was when I actually saw the Z there on the floor. He was an older white guy...seemed to have toruble with one of his eyes. (Sorry about my descriptions, it was a while ago and I don't remember names well). He was nice, fairly knowledgeable. He tried to sell me that car instead of wait 1.5 more weeks for my pre-order to come in. Of course, they wanted $5k over MSRP for it!!! I turned him down and he continued to tlak to me, let em sit in it, look all over it, etc.

Overall I'd say I've had a hit and miss experience with them -- but I don't want hit-and-miss when it comes to servicing my car.

Performance Nissan in Lilburn located along US Highway 78 just between Killian Hill Rd and Lake Lucerne (ps?) Rd.

It's on the North side of the highway -- right next to Performance Mazda.

Weird.. sux that was your exprence there... I had a great expreence and the thing that really sealed the deal was the amount of respect that they gave me considering that I am only 18.

Default I Have A Theory...

Did you ever see 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' ??

Remember the valet guy? Maybe he's the same guy who worked on your Z. He got that Ferrari about 6 feet off the ground. Way Cool!

"Hey boss, can I drive this customer's 350 up to McDonald's during lunch (and to see my homies over in stickville) to make sure everything is OK?"

Just a thought.

Probably right, I havent work on the car and dont know enough about the car to fix it.... but it's not my JOB either...I guess I just expected more for my 100 dollar service job.

Yeah I definitely feel that way…I also felt exactly that way last weekend in buckhead…I valet parked my car and when I had the car returned, there was a young 18 year old kid “pimping “ it… I sat in the seat and it was pimped all the way back.

Anyways….I think I’m finally making progress on this…
I went over the customer service rep and got in touch with the service manager …He was very apologetic and said he would have his flatbed wrecker pick it up asap. This has been a huge hassle but I guess mistakes happen right? Hopefully everything will turn out ok.

the way I drive, I know exactly what my mileage on the trip comp. shoud be. If I drive consistent, the mileage stays consistent. Whenever I nail it full throttle though, the mileage drops by .2 mpg. When I got my car back from service, my mileage was tossed WAY back. hmmmm either they let it idle for the whole time they were fixing it, or there was some crazy driving goin on!
