Default New to Z's

Upon hearing of a 350Z Roadster this morning, my appetite for a Z car has really increased. In about 2 years I plan to replace my Trans Am, and have been really pissed that there are hardly any convertibles that I like. Sure, the Lexus SC430 is rolling sex, and the Vette and XLR will be nice as well, but these are all a little pricey. Then today I saw that the Z was going topless, which I was suspecting would happen one day, and I am left hoping that the Infiniti takes off her top too!

I'm curious as to what kind of 1/4 mile times people are getting with their new 350Z's. I'm also interested in what kind of gains people are getting from common mods. Can the Infiniti share in some of these mods? Thanks for any info. From the posts I've read so far, people on here seem knowledgable and friendly, and I'm glad to have found it.

I'm an ex-modded '00 T/A owner so I'll tell you what I think. The Z is in no way like an LS1 T/A. The F-body is a much more powerful car. A stock Z should run approx. 1 second and 5-6 mph slower in the 1/4 mile than a stock LS1 F-body.

However, it has an increadibly flat torque band and power spread well across the rev range. It handles, steers, and brakes head and shoulders above an F-body and I'm extremely pleased with mine. Its around town driveability is great if you don't mind a rough ride over expansion joints.

I'm really happy with mine. After driving the 315 rwhp/rwtq T/A for a while I got bored with its power. It just became the norm for me. I don't think I'll get too bored with the handling and braking of the Z33 though. If you're just interested in the 'vert aspect, you might also consider the G35 convertible which should also debut in the next few months. I think the Coupe is a better looking car but I prefer the Z's no compromise performance.

This is really coming? My prayers have been answered. Do you know if it is going to have a back seat still?
