Default Planning on going from a 02 Trans Am WS6 to a 06 350Z

I currently have a 2002 trans am WS6. I do love it, but I am getting tired of owning it. That and as I have evolved as a driver over the past few years (im 18), I have found that the T/A doesn't quite fit my driving style very well anymore. I say this since I have discovered how I love going through corners and backroads far more than I like to go in a straightline. So since I love going through corners, I have discovered how that is a weak area for the trans am. Things I noticed when test driving a new Z was that is was truly a big step up in handling, since I noticed the steering was a lot tighter, more responsive, and I also noticed how there was less body lean, and seemingly more grip.

The only drawback I see in this is that the engine definitely doesn't have the same "throw you back into your seat" acceleration that the t/a has (350 ft-lbs of torque compared to the Z's 260 ft-lbs). Yet the Z definitely is a fast car in the straight line (300HP, 5.4 sec 0-60, 13.8 sec 1/4 mile?), and it offers more than enough performance for me since I rarely floor my t/a. That and my trans am in in black, it is automatic, and it features a crappy interior, all things that I am tired of having. So basically some of the reasoning for me wanting to sell my trans am for a 350Z. I am mostly looking for some opinions on a move like this. The 350Z that I am planning on getting is:

a new 06 Grand Touring Z, silverstone paint, burnt orange seats, and a navigation system. I might also get some of the dealer installed upgrades.

Welcome to the forum. Take some pictures of your new ride, if and when you purchase it.

Welcome.

I checked and there doesn't seem to be a question in your post. Which is OK. When the 350Z keys are in your hand, post a photo.

Go to a dealer and ask to drive a touring edition. Then take it out on YOUR OWN test drive. Don't let the salesman stop you from testing the car. Take it on corners, freeway, do some pulls from 40mph rolls and such. Don't forget to park it somewhere, in a vacant parking lot and go through it thoroughly.

Oh and take a CD to try out with you, that always helps to get a feel. Test the road noise, see if its comfortable.

Do it!! I just went from a 94 Camaro to an 06 Z a few months ago. Night and day differences. Granted, I only had the v6 model (not Z28), all of the other differences aside from the engine made it very worth upgrading to the Z. The interior quality, the grip, very minimal body roll, the exterior styling, all new technology (Xenon headlights, LED tailights, trip computer, etc) made it a much better package. This car feels alot tighter and more stable than the Camaro did. I'm sure you will get used to the power that this car produces. There are ways that you can get it up to the level that your WS6 was at.
