Considering a Z....
Hey everyone, i'm seriously considering buying a 350z or an Sti, but i've read on a lot of other forums the numerous problems people have been having with the Z from tire feathering, transmission issues and all the funny rattles. Has nissan fixed these problems with the 05's and the 06's. I'm not going to plunk down over 30G for a car that i have to change the tires every few months, but if all of you Z owners out there can give me your personal opinion from you own experience with the car it would be very helpful in my decision.

No tire feathering here
No rattle either
I had a few buzzes after a few thousand miles... electrical greases fixed that.
the 350Z is a tight well made product. I like the fit and finish and material selection much better that the SUBARU.

My 06 has been great. The only issue I have with it thus far is the cement mixer sound coming from my clutch when it is engaged and the car is in neutral. Other than that, I'm quite happy.

I swear, no offense to you, but we get post like yours alot.
Go and research your other options and try to find another car that hasnt had any problems. It wont happen.
You may or may not have issues. But ask us if we love the z and well all say a big *** yes!

Z scores well in both Consumer reports & MSN auto.
Feathering was 03 issue.....primarily.
Bottom line: problems have decreased since 03. if you like the car go buy it.
PS: outside of minor feathering (still got 24,000 miles out of OEM tires) my 03 has been problem free.

i have a dilema here... im about to trade in my 06 rsx type s for a Z mainly because of the rattling, i don't listen to music while driving, casue i enjoy the engine note. do these Zs have rattling problems? also i heard they are putting a new VQ35 motor in the Z with dual throttle body, new pistons, connecting rods and stuff... should i wait for the 07 to come out first?

Meanwhile, no one needs Hyundai engines at all except older 4cyl Sonatas. Want a car that runs forever, get a 95+ Maxima, Mazda 6, Mazda 3, 99+ Mazda Protege, 96-00 Civic DX or LX, 00+ Hyundai Accent or Elantra or Sonata. Those cars never need $hit.

IMHO...do not do it! There are WAY to many on the streets now. Get something a little more original like a Mini Cooper etc...ROTFLMAO while FTFO all the way up in BFE. ahh I kill myself...
Seriously tho I have had ZERO tire feathering or rattling issues with my Z. It's a quality piece of work. Handling is amazing and has great power. I do not know anything about STi's except that they are ugly. Good luck!

if you want performance, get an sti.
the Z really isn't even that fast.... it may seem fast to those that come from a 4 cylinder sedan, but to everyone else its just average...
Z handles well though and looks great, but it can not match an sti in performance, especially when you start to mod the car. Its really expensive to mod.
the Sti looks like your typical 16 year old civic fart canon crap car , so the Z may get you more attention.
all in all, i'd never get an sti, it looks like total junk. The Z is a great car, but isn't really that fast.

^ That's true for me at least. I had heavy/slow *** cars before the Z, and it seems fast. Never drove an STi though, but like what you said, it (to me) looks like junk. It (or an EVO) isn't/shouldn't be classified as a "sports" car..well, simply because in no way does it look like one (well at least, in my world)

i fail to see how a 300 horsepower coupe is not "that fast". Maybe compared to 60 thousand dollar cars,(m3, vettes, amg's) but for the money , its one of the fastest on the road.
