Default Why my car seems to be so heavy?? or lack of power?

Why everytime when i start from a stop, i feel my car is accelerating slow in the 1st gear.
When do you guys usually shift??
I shift at around 3k rpm, but it seems most car is accelerating the same as me.
I just feel it is lack of power from the start, like the car is too heavy or what..

Do guys know why?? Is it the way I drive a stick?? I fully engaged the clutch too early??

Need some advises..

have u tried releasing the hand brake?
what car are you comparing to?
did u know we have a drive by wire throttle, so it makes a difference how much you push the pedal down?
A lack of power or excess weight will manifest ALL the time, not just taking off.

Are you trying to get the jump on people? I mean are you going half throttle, WOT, what? If you do want to jump out, you are going to have to take it past 3k rpm. The power band is really just getting started there. If you want power on demand, keep it in the band, say between 3k and 6k+, it'll go. If you want economy drive like you have been and of course it won't seem very quick.

Engage the clutch and apply throttle. You cannot ***** foot the gas pedal and short shift(shifting early at 3k) if you expect to be fast. Floor that ***** and take it to redline and speed shift to your next gear and chirp second and third. Those other cars will be specks in your rear view.

you gotta get smaller wheels if you wanna go faster. 14" wheels work good on a Z

The Z has good power but not necessarily at low RPM. Better low end than the Honda S2000 but not as good a V8. So yes, you won't be leaving grandma in the dust at 3000 rpm. You either need to shift at 3500-4000 and make a racket or throw on a supercharger that makes loads of torque at 2000 rpm. Or just let grandma get a jump on you

So automatic will be faster than stick if we are doing economy drive?

Let say.. both car (auto and stick) step on the gas pedal the same amount. Which one will be faster? the auto?

I want to make sure how do u guys drive a stick?
Do you hold the clutch for a while after u step on the gas pedal?
or you step on the gas pedal and release the clutch immediately?

I also shift at 3,000 rpm... I'm not sure is it that you've driven some other high powered car or something... There's a few things you can do... Shift later if you want to really feel the power... throw on a supercharger or TT would always be nice... And A very easy way is to drive a low power car for a while then drive the Z again...
~I drove my bro's Toyota 4runner for 2 weeks and when I started to drive the Z again... man....!!!

i believe the stick will go faster. like some people said if you want to take off then put the medal to the pedal.

Which ever one has higher gear ratios. Usually, its the manual.

The auto may be faster right off the line in the real world on a routine start for a number of reasons. First, I personally get tired of holding down the clutch at red lights, so unless I am going to try to anticipate the green light I need to put in the clutch and put er in gear etc. while grandma is already half way down the block. Second, the auto has a torque converter and no clutch so on an easy start it just seems to me that auto cars are quicker off the line the first few feet while in my manual car I am trying to finese a smooth clutch release and going nowhere (well relatively speaking). Now if I decide to just go for it, 3000 rpm launch, 1 second second slip and release of clutch and flooring it to redline, the manual is going to be faster

1. Press Clutch to Floor.
2. Enguage First Gear with shifter
3. Rev engine to 3,000 RPM
4. Simultaniously release clutch while depressing gas peddle to the floor.
5. Shift at 6,600 RPM in to 2nd Gear.

I shift at 3K as my daily economy driving.
It also has to do with how fast you shift.
Try giving more gas starting out on the 1st gear.
If you get a decent 1st gear start, even if you shfit at
3K you're still right there with the traffic no problem.
But I guess my car's not stock so... (esp. headers really help lol)
