In an accident where you are not to blame you usually take up the costs of fixing the vehicle with the other party's insurance company...your insurance company doesnt really have anything to do with it. good luck with the car, mine is being fixed as we speak for an accident about 2 months ago...its sucks.

 

Plumpzz, that suxs that this happened to you. When I was 19, I was making a left turn (light was yellow) and I guy in a pos honda ran the light and hit me. The cop came and never even talked to me, I picked up the police report and I was wrong (It said I ran the light and he was making the left turn). To make a long story short, the report was fixed and I went to count and I was fined $75 for a failure to yield on a left turn, and the accident was my fault. I think the cops like to blame accidents on the younger drivers, but I could be wrong.

 

Yeah, you should file a claim with their ins. You're only suppose to notify your ins as your policy may state.

 

Not to chime in about the age thing ... but being 28 I guess I too am on the young side for driving a Z roadster. For you older Z owners out there don't be so quick to judge that all the younger Z owners have mommy and daddy to thank. I busted my a$$ in college (which I also paid for) to earn a Electrical Engineering degree ... now, frankly, it is time to reap the benefits. Most old timers think kids these days are given everything to them spoon fed ...

Sorry you had to learn this the hard way, but an accident where you are making the left turn and someone else is coming straight is ALWAYS, far as I know (assuming no one is going against a red light), going to be considered a "failure to yield" accident against the person making the left turn.

I was on the other side of this once: someone tried to make a left turn when they had a green light, but NOT a green arrow on their side. I was coming straight through on a green. There was a half-wall next to me so I couldn't see him turning until he was across the intersection. We collided. My 8-year old Stanza was totalled, and his nearly brand new, very expensive (Cadillac, maybe?) was damaged in the back.

He was considered at fault and his insurance company paid for my car and a rental car for me until I bought a new one. He was probably in his 50's and I was in my 30's, so it wasn't like the cops were picking on the younger driver.
