Default Fellow manual Z drivers, what would you do if you got injured?

A friend of mine recently broke his wrist but luckily for him, he drives an automatic.

That got me to thinking, what would you all do if, say, you broke an arm or a leg? Obviously, if we had automatics, we'd still be okay but because we drive manual, we'd be screwed.

I guess I'd just rent a car because I doubt my friends and family want to chauffer me around for a month. What would you all do?

when I fractured my right hand in an accident with my 3000GT, I couldn't drive stick for awhile. Had people lend me there automatic rides until it healed.

Everyone would have different responses because everyone's situation is different. Some people would have loved ones chauffer them, other would rent automatic cars, catch the bus/train, etc.

I drove a 260Z years ago and broke my leg skiing. A friend drove a big Malibu, and we traded cars for 5 months.

I'd probably trade cars with my dad until my arm/leg healed, he drives an auto.

I can never drive a manual again because of nerve damage in my right arm from my pinky/ring finger up to my armpit, but when I'v had to drive one since my accident when I'v had no choice I used my elbow to shift. ...boy was that a *****.

As much as gas would kill me, I guess I'd drive my truck.

God damn this thread for me???

I tore my right wrist cartilage more than 6 months ago. My doc's tried everything short of surgery on me and it's just gettin worse. He put me in a cast about an hour ago. Surgery involves cutting and shortening bone in my arm and holding it with a plate and screws, then reopening to take out the plate later - surgery from hell if you ask me. And it still won't be certain.

Been living like a cripple and been contemplating selling my 6MT Z. I can still drive it but it's not good for my wrist. I just drove back from the hospital in my S13, also stick, not easy. Hard typin this thing.

If you break your wrist, the blood will heal it. But if you tear a cartilage, there's little blood supply to heal it, you're screwed.

If it could heal, I'd wait it out....borrow an AT from a family member.

If it was permanent, I would just sell the Z and never look back. Maybe go with something more pratical because I couldn't drive an AT Z. Just not what the car is about, to me at least.

I vote trade cars with a friend for a little while. I doubt it would take much convincing to get one of my friends to drive the Z. I just hope it never comes to that. Zakira, sorry to hear about your misfortune. Hopefully your wrist gets better soon and you dont have to sell the Z.

I'd cry. Then go back to driving trucks/suv's.

Sorry to hear bro, how did you tear your cartilage if you don't mind me asking?

Thank you, guys. Yeah, I was reduced to tears at one time, gotten over it now. I'll never be 100%. Cartilage can't grow back, so surgery's just cutting away damaged portions. I heard sumo grandchampion Musashimaru (Hawaiian guy) retired because of it.

highside107 - I did it in the gym. Wasn't lifting at the time, just adjusting an equipment, shouda used two hands and twisted it bad. Dumb. Sigh.

Thanks guys.

Hopefully the next GT-R will have sequential paddleshift

Recently got my MT Z.. Since I live in Michigan, I kept my old AT Sebring as a beater.. I guess it could be an injury crutch/beater. Never thought about the topic - another reason to keep my beater up and runnin.

I don't even wanna think about getting injured and not driving my Z..
I won't trade cars with anybody for a while either because seems like
everyone who drives my Z stalls the crap out of it with my JWT clutch.

I'd hitch a ride to work with friends.

And/or drive the Titan...
