Default three dumb questions... it's another noob!

hi, all!

(requisite First Post Disclaimer) I've been lurking here for a few weeks, and went through the FAQ's and stickies already... but apologies in advance if (when) I ask something that was probably covered yesterday...

*Short Version* I'm looking to buy a used Z in the next 4-6 months, after I pay the Ducati off. A couple quick questions for the board here:

1. Any models/years to avoid? Any serious known problems? Things to look out for on used models?

2. What's on the generally-accepted list of must-do mods? (i.e. window tint, spoiler, rims/tires, weight-reduction (?), plenum spacers, etc...?)

3. What's the fastest color? I hope it's black.

TIA,
DucTape (Aaron)

Welcome.

1. Any models/years to avoid? Any serious known problems? Things to look out for on used models?

For reliability data check Consumer Reports.

2. What's on the generally-accepted list of must-do mods? (i.e. window tint, spoiler, rims/tires, weight-reduction (?), plenum spacers, etc...?)

I have a simple rule: Get the car first.

3. What's the fastest color? I hope it's black.

Correct. Black is the fastest because of the photo-aerodynamic quality of black.

2. Mods: get a pop charger if you are going to stay N/A. Cheap mod, great sound.

3. Color: +1 on the black being photo-aerodynamic. If you go with the '06 and get the Magnetic Black, the paint actually uses the Earth's magnetic field to propel itself after 3,500 rpms. It pulls like no other. Enjoy!

Hi. Welcome to MY350Z.com. I know you are extremely excited to have the car or in great anticipation of getting one. Until you own the car, you should refrain from asking any questions about modifications. If you do own the car as of now, please continue reading. You may not believe this but in the 4 years since the car was unveiled and this site was started, people have asked questions similar to yours. I know.........crazy right? Rest assured, you can be content in knowing that one of the other 63,000+ members of this site has had the same thought as you at least once and shared it with the group. How do you find these answers, one may ask. Use the SEARCH feature. I know what you are thinking now. Why would you want to search for old information when you want the most current up to date info you can get? Don't fret, my friend. Try SEARCH anyway. You'll be surprised that the question you were asking was answered just 30 minutes ago and is actually posted just 4 or 5 posts beneath your own. I know what you're thinking now. How could the question have been answered just 30 minutes ago. The answer is: BECAUSE NONE OF THE NEW PEOPLE EVEN ATTEMPT TO SEARCH EVEN ONCE.

That is where your mistake was. You need to use the SEARCH feature.

LOL....Rough crowd here eh DucTape?

Seriously though, as a shopper/potential owner, the "archive" of information available to you through the search interface on this site is unparalleled on the internet. Now that the Z is a few years old, there are few questions you could ask that haven't been asked and answered here many times. I hope the crowd didn't discourage you from continuing to use my350z.com as a resource, and that their 'encouragement' has inspired you to check out the wealth of information available using the search function.

Welcome to the forum.

I think I should add that part to the end of my post just for that extra touch of respect if it wasn't resectful enough.

to the thread starter, try ARC's super induction box/ suction pipe. it gives u great throttle response, also it keeps ur engine clean, unlike most of open filter intake systems.

He was also getting "wise" with cwest. I understand your point and will abide. It goes both ways though.

Thomas (hopes someone caught on to the "dude abides")

Can you take a pic of your ARC setup and did you dyno it? I have always wanted to know what kind of gains I could get from the ARC unit.
