05 and 06 Zs are most reliable. 06s have been tweaked a little. The engine can rev-up 400 more RPMs (7,000 instead of 6600 previous years...although previous year anniversery/track can rev to 7k as well). Since the revs are up to 7k, they come w/ 300 ponies with a little less torque than previous years.
Z is fun; Z is a "Z". The EVO I can't speak of -- never bothered to test drive it. I've seen them though; the interior/exterior doesn't catch my eye. But from acquiring some info from the forums, I can tell you they're much more mod friendly than the Z. Just a few tweaks/bolt ons really give you alot, compared to the Z. I believe the '05s are more mod friendly (turbos for rev-up aren't out yet).
That's all I know...other's who know more will chip in as well

Newer model year= less TSBs and more realiability (theoretically)

You could easily find everything thing you need to know by searching.

For performance, all 350Z are about the same. Reliability? Check Consumer Reports. The EVO is a contender, but a completely different car. Drive both. But the one that you prefer.

Visit the dealer with big roll of money in your pocket. Money takes precedence over age every time.
