investing 10k into a house is much smarter than investing it all into a car. hell investing 10k into something is much smarter than into a car. if you wreck the car, there goes your 10k you spent on it. good luck getting every piece refunded from your insurance.

Putting 10K into a car if you want is investing in FUN that you wouldn't of had otherwise sitting in your house and looking out the window at your CAMRY. Then you die.
Since when is a Z owner so practical anyway?
how about putting $5k into a hot paint job? i was thinking ferrari red with a carbon fiber hood.
Then put the rest into some 19" bronze wheels, and the rest can go into new set of racing seats plus a new sound system.
Forget turbo, its over rated. If you want a turbo car, just get something thats factory turbo'd then upgrade the turbo. Less hassle.

the car is great by its self, get some nice brembo brakes, tein or apexi coilover suspension, duel performance tires
if you put a turbo / super into your car, you're looking for a lot of engine work, especially if the engine starts to break down, go for handling first then save up for power. Thats my philosophy atleast, why have more power, when you cant control it?

IronMedic are you aware of what the housing market is like in Maryland b/c if you were you would not have posted the same old logic of investing 10k into a house twice in the same thread. I am going to underestimate and say that the average house in Maryland costs 300k(it actually costs more) so the whopping 10,000 is 3% down which might just cover his closing costs. So now he is left with a 300k dollar mortgage at 100% of his home value. Assuming he has good credit I will also low ball and average his interest rate out to say 7%(figuring he will get an 80/20) loan to avoid PMI which will run him another $300 a month on top of his now 2000 dollar mortgage every month. This does not include taxes, ins, anything to do with up keeping the home, or electric water etc.
So now are you going to give him the same great advice for a 3rd time or are you going to realize that 10k in a Mid-Atlantic market means nothing at this point in time. I do agree that blowing 10k on mods for the car might not be the wisest idea and there are def. other ways to better spend the money but investing in a house at this stage of the market is just not feasible or wise.
And by the way if I did similar calculations for my area on Long Island you might cry b/c its much worse.
LIDREW had the right idea in his post... but I hope for my sake at least he is wrong about the depreciating part.

Honestly, I have driven a '96 and an '04 Corvette 6-spd. After I drove my uncles '04 last month, I learned to appretiate my Z much more. The Z has plenty of torque and power stock, but with some basic or intermediate mods like adding a bolt on fi kit, you will not only hang w/ corvettes, but enjoy it much more. The interior of the Z kicks the vettes *** in every aspect, even the seats. Power wise, for some $$$$ you can go fi or na and do a few weight reductions.
The Z is an awesome car, if you are unsure if you want to spend the money to mod it, test drive a few cars and see what you want to do. Uprgrading suspension and sways will do a lot for handling. Then you can focus on power. No car is an investment, corvettes are pretty cool but they are a completely different feel than the Z. I would say do power mods and dont waste money on asethetics.
good luck

save your money,, at least 10k for any tt kit,, plus clutch,,,, then if you pop the motor your looking at 12k on a bottom end only buildup, assuming a shop will pull and install the new motor for you,, and remove and install the turbo kit again,,, your looking at over 20k for a very unpractical build... stay NA, do the bolt ons,, be happy with a mid low to mid 13 second streetcar possibly and save for the GTR,,, thats what I am doing
10K into a depreciating asset? You will never see that 10K again, and will you experince 10K$ of enjoyment beyond your current experience with the Z?
Some say yes, others no. But it's still a lot of money to put into something that you will never see again.
