Thanks everybody for the great input. That's why this board is cool to visit no matter what you drive!

I'll post again when I get the Z. I think I will get one, it's just a matter of whether I can control the impulses and wait a few more years, or doing it now.

I would at least wait until the end of the year and get a new '06 Z when the '07s are selling. The depreciation of your 06 rsx will probably have even out to the great deal you could get with a '06 Z.

No one even knows why either.

A lot of them also have the 2nd gear grind issue. From the 02 all the way to the 06.

The interiors are nice, but the Z is more comfortable (hands down) then the Acura seats.

The RSX will be noticably more bouncy than the Z.

Its also sluggish and just as expensive to mod. (just compare prices and most are within 100-200$ of the equivalent Z part)

There is a reason Acura is discontinuing it, but not just because of the reasons above. Additionally, the community is filled with teenagers which gets annoying after a while.

If you REALLY want an Acura, wait for the TSX Coupe and check one out.
the statement about the modding is completely false. it was so much cheaper to mod, i had one and loved it and if i was better off financially i would have kept it as my dd, but i loved the z and couldnt have both so.

I had an 02 TL-S, and just like most everyone I know with that car, the tranny sucks sh*t (well, i've also already replaced my tranny in my Z already)....other than the transmission, the quality and fit and finish of a Honda, especially Acura, will blow the Nissan away...I loved my TL-S, and if they had made it rear wheel drive on the current TL, I would have gotten it...
As far as Nissan, truth is, most of their money is invested in the motor, aka POWER...if you compare and Nissan to a comparable car in the Honda or Toyota line, you'll see that the Nissan is really cheap in the interior in comparison....BUT, in return, you have one of the most powerful engine in it's class...
Don't get me wrong, I love my Z, and I knew when I was getting that it will be a change in quality, I traded one benefit for another...and I'm still loving it!!!

only get a Z if you plan on cutting the roof apart to make a sun roof because the coupe version of the Z offers no sunroof option.

I think the new interiors are nice. I've compared it to an 03 and you can notice the improvements.

I had a honda s2000, acura rsx type s, and nissan z. Like others have stated its a tradeoff really. Rsx is not in the same league as the s2000 and z. S2000 has a nicer interior but noisy with the softtop. Also, the s2000 had less room in it versus the z. So hence, I took the plunge and decided to get the z due to room/power. I kind of miss the s2000 sometimes but the z is nice in terms of power!

I dont even think you are old enough to drive a car. You just get on here looking for attention.

Hey everyone I figured it out! Uncutskrotumz is really mentally challenged. Lets not pick on him and just agree with what he says.

I have an 03 350Z with 30K miles on it, I bought 2.5 years ago. 2 weeks ago I bought an Acura TL. (new style)

I like the 350Z more then the TL (not counting winter time) as far as the RSX goes... I wouldnt even think about it. that's like asking whats better, a Civic DX or a Integra GSR (in honda terms)

hands down 350Z over the RSX.

My first post....

I was just an observer but after seeing the GTI I had to interject.

I had a similar problem.

Option 1: 350Z, absolutley love the way the car looks and sounds. Took it for a test drive, enjoyed the short shifts but I felt as though the torque was lacking for the price of the car. I loved the looks of the interior aswell, but thought it was very counter intuitive. Overall it wasn't bad but not what I expected.

Option 2: GTI, Was originally reluctant to even test drive as this was the bottom of my list at the time. Having very little experience with VW but I figured nothing blew me away thus far so it was worth a shot. I came away from this test drive much more impressed. So impressed that I ended up signing the papers that night. The comment on it having poor interior quality baffles me. The interior gets nothing but compliments on how luxury it looks. Its the poor mans BMW. All in all, I ended up buying this car. Now I still feel the Z is a better looking car, but the speed, luxury, practicality and insurance of the GTI were enough to sell me on it.

I ended up saving over $4,000 on the GTI and really enjoy it. A friend of mine actually has the 350Z and we are working on getting to the track to line em up. I'll let you know the results.

Hey Listen, Uncut,

It's 3:30 am (here on the East Coast anyway)....Grab a gas powered chain saw and Sneak out of your parent's house with Daddy's new Z (Just put it in Neutral out of the driveway and have one of your short lil Yellow Bus friend's push it while you steer).

Next...drive it to a secluded area (maybe a park)...and then just saw off the top (don't worry about cutting in a straight line...it's all GOOD, homie!!) and make a Targa Top for Daddy's Z.

NOW, Surprise Daddy on Sunday Morning!!

YAY!!...UncutscrotumZ rides the Short Yellow Bus (BUT in his mind...it's a Yellow Z!!)

Hi All,
Enjoy the board. I own a 06 Acura RSX and am happy with it, but I now I can't get the 350Z out of my head. The styling, the V6, the exhaust note - all get me more excited than the Acura.........I think I bought the wrong car! D'oh!
My concern is: How do you guys feel about the quality/reliablity of your Z? That's my main worry about the deal. Any Acura owners out there who switched and were happy with or regretted the move?
Enjoy the board.

[QUOTE=lobotomy]I just went from an 02 Type-S to a 6sp 06 Base. Here is the story...

How I started shopping
One thing I hate and truely hate is a clutch and transmission that are not BUILT for the car. Acura used a very ****ty tranny on the Type-S and it shows for everyone that hit 50K miles and had 2nd gear grind issues. I was one of them.

One think I hate even more than that, is a company that does not take care of it's customers. Acura would not even ackowledge my problem existed. So after 2 trips and a detiorating situation with my clutch & tranny I said the hell with it and started looking at new cars.

The Shopping List

VW GTI 2.0T
First of all I think this little guy was always a good car. But it wasn't a Z, RX-8, or S2000 calibur car. I could however load the interior up with lots of goodies and be in under 28K OTD. Unfortunately I was treated like **** at the dealership, not respected, and given a sales person who admitted he knew very little about the car.

i sold my year old 02RSX right away after just one look at a Z in 03.
i'm glad you didn't buy the VW....i had a VR6 jetta back in 2002 and got rid of it after two years because of poor customer service experience. Speaking of my 02RSX, the battery died within a week after delivery (had to be replaced under warranty)and its wide turning radius sucked.
