I have a 2K5 G35 Coupe 6MT.
When I went shopping for my car last year I had 3 conditions that the car had to have:
1) Rear Wheel Drive
2) Powerfull drivetrain
3) Room for the kids
I'm 35 and have 3 kids so the Z and the S2000 definitely was out of consideration, that didn't leave much in the 40k or less price range.
The G35 filled alll those requirements and then some.
1) High Resale Value
2) Loaner program
3) Roadside assistance
4) Classic Look
It's true what some of you have said about G35 owners being more into the music and chrome(NOT). Yes i have redone the whole audio system in the car cause I believe the bose(Blowsss) systems suxz a$$.I have also done performance modification to improve in some areas that I considered the G35 was lacking. As far as the skyline comment maybe people aren't aware that the GTR is not the only Skyline in japan. The GTR was the all out Skyline but there were also Non-Turbo Skylines not GTR out there so please know your info before speaking. I'm not knocking the 350Z my friend has one wayyy before I considered the G and if I was single and in my early 20's I would have probably have been a 350Z owner.
Modifications so far on my car:
1) Entire Audio System
2) Stillen sways
3) HKS TI Exhaust
4) Tein Basic Coilovers
5) Stillen Intake couples with the Z-Tube
6) MREV
7) Racing Hart's RS-721
8) SPC Rear Camber Solution
9) SP Grille
10) Seibon CF Hood
11) Nismo Front Bumper(Not Pictured)
Here are some pictures and I hope that It meets the approval of both the G/Z guys. We all basically driving the same platform even though the Z is lighter and the suspension is much better due to it having strut bars front and rear something which I wish was available to use G35 since I do Autocross my car.

I heard the New 2007 350z's will have rear wheel turning.
For those of you newbies that don't know what that new technology is, it is when the steering wheel controls the rear set of wheels instead of the front ones.
Its better for driving backwards and you can drift better.

Very beautiful G man. I love who Z/G owners stick together, aside from this person mentioned in the OP post. When I go to work I didn't see any Zs or Gs. Then one day I parked in a corner to protect at least one side of my Z from stray doors etc, and I went to leave work and there was a G parked next to me. Then today I came out of work and there was another G on the other side, so now we all park together and I've never met either of them.

you should key their G's to show them that 350z's are better.
Z's up, G's down.. thats how we do it in the hood.
how dare they park their piece of crap Scion TC look alike next to your 350z. don't they know their G's don't match up to your Z? Do they think they're being cool by parking next to you? are they trying to make their cars seem cool by being next to a 350z?
G35's have nothing on 350z's. They are slower, bulkier, uglier, handles like crap, looks like a Scion TC, have crappy resale value, can't carry more than4 people, and to top it all off, its an Infiniti.

nissan is cheaper so it makes FWD while Infiniti being luxury and more expensive gets the (RWD)
why do you think the G35 costs more than a 350z? You think its because of the stupid leather? or the Recarro seats? NO WAY, its because it has RWD...
don't you guys research your stuff before you make a purchase?
Also, don't even get me started on rwd.... you guys remember the 300zx back in 96? That was the only rwd car Nissan has ever made! Period. Look how it turned out? They discontinued it because Americans don't really like rwd because it isn't as safe in the rain as fwd..
and yes, i do own a 350z. its twin turbocharged too putting 325horses to the wheels. Installed and Tuned at Chevron gas station.

its just gonna be one of those things that just keeps going round and round on and on. you say potato, ....
but everyone is entired to speak about their opinion, and it's nothing new around here.
the first time I seen a G35, I said nice.(I still own a maxima for my sedan and an SUV for daily). I had noticed the sedan first. And then seen the coupe. I think the new altima is just as nice, and if i were looking for a sporty sedan, chances are i would go maxima before a G37 (whether for the wifey or not)
But if its a 1/4 mile drag, prestige, luxury, tracking, versatility each one may have their strong points. Now, the first time I seen a 350z coupe, outstanding!
And to me, the Z has always been the neck breaker and the performer.
And to me it will stay that way.
If the g37 does a 2 seater version, then we can do a real comparison, but in my mind, they dont compare.

Yes, G35 is very close to the Z in terms of performance, but it sure doesn't
do it 'better' than the Z.
When it comes to accleration and handling stock for stock, the Z has edge over G35.
Only thing G35 does better that Z is the interior and 2 back seats.
I've driven both, and the Z is just better responding car.
Oh btw, I hope your friend didn't buy an auto and talking all this smack.
