i learned that when i got my new Z delivered to the dealership and it had like 300 miles on it it meant someone had fun with my car first. i should have realized this but i was so excited when i first got it that it didn't even really register. well all i can do is hope they didn't beat on it. i've had it for 6 months now and it needs to go into the shop cus the engine's making a knocking noise like there are rocks in the cylinders when it drops rpm while idling.

hmmm. i had 30miles coming from another dealer. my car idles when i put it on neutural, going to 2nd gear, pushing the clutch, maybe 60-70 percent of the time it idles. youll get use to it. knocking on engine didnt hear that and i hope never. the dealer should tell you how much miles it has and has to be writen on your contract. well mine did
mine had 17 miles on the clock. If you were sold a 'new' car with 300 miles on the clock it probably would have been wise to reject the car...but hind-sight is a wonderful thing
It is safe to say that when people do test drive cars today the sales person usually rides along{usually} so the car probably was'nt hammered on. Good luck.
dealership out here has a policy if you dont like it you can return within 200 mi of buying it no questions asked. If you have that same policy up there then it is possible someone may have beaten the car a bit much and taken it back after he learned to drive stick and then got a different color.
I worked at a dealer.. had access to all the cars at all times. I will admit I took my fair share of cars out and wasn't exactly fragile with them no matter what the mileage.
10 miles and it still had the plastic on the outside and inside on the seats and door panels. I specifically checked the mileage because I didn't want a car that was driven much before I bought it. I figured 10 miles was as good as I was going to get.
If you've been driving your car for the past six months, and are just now taking it into the dealer, then I don't think the first 300 miles have anything to do with your problem.
