new guy (non 350) lookin for some info
just wondering what the stock numbers are for the Z??? also track times. i remember when i was stock running a couple stock 350's (from a roll) i put about half a car to a car on them. there was one i put like 3 cars but im sure that guy couldnt drive for crap! they should have taken it away from them. just wonderin like hp tq numbers and 1/4 mile times and anything else useful, just trying to learn more! thanks again take care.
What kind of car/mods do you have?
Z's normally dyno 230-240whp bone stock with similar torque numbers. The newer rev-up models that have 300hp usually dyno just a bit higher than the 287hp models, but lose some torque.
Many people have run high 13's with the Z bone stock, while others (like myself probably) run low 14's.

Z is a car made to tackle corners... Its not set up for drag racing stock period... You can set it up as a drag car but then you loose what the car was made for... to be a cornering monster...
+1 to highside's comments. 1/4 mile times will be low 14s, high 13s. This car is not made entirely based on that measurement either. Most drag machines are built specifically for that purpose (GTO, Mustang, etc). The Z is a good mix of straightline speed with fantastic handling.
The numbers have been published time and time again in magazines such as Road and Track. Anyone with the slightest interest in cars knows the numbers. Your thread is to tell us about how you beat a 350Z. Congratulations. Now scoot alone little doggie.

the reason i ask is because magazines tend to get things wrong a lot and every guy with a 350 ive ever talked to either told me he was doing like 260 stock or would just run off.
im running a dodge neon with big turbo and supporting mods, visual accesories, tv, and light suspension.

neons rule man......why are you being so hard on the kid....just cause he only had 5K in his piggy bank doesn't give you a reason to go off on the guy....now we all got our Z's for whatever reason.....i give respect to everyone who works on their car *cough cough*** especially **Cough cough** those cars that look like Hellen Keller designed them **cough** NEON **cough**

Torque not so great at around 228lb/ft but that is the characteristics of my motor. I have beaten 2 stock SRT4s, lost to that stageII that i mentioned above.... but thats about it. Havent tracked it, but positive i'll be in the 13s w/ my stock numbers. I've been into imports/domestics, just cars in general since i was able to drive (1989)... and i can tell you that ANY make/model will have variances in power output. If you have a turbo upgrade which your signature suggests.... then you should have no problem beating the Z in stock form or w/ bolt ons. However a 75 shot of Nitrous will get this car deep into the 12s... and if boost is added to the equation well... you can see where this leads to. Anyways, congrats on your wins... im sure you have a fast car indeed... Not to be offensive, but 99% of the owners here bought the Z for more than what it can do in the 1/4mi. The car costs 2x more than a SRT4 and I'm sure they would have saved 1/2 their money if the Neon was the way they wanted to go... Again, no offense.... I've been on both sides. Hell my turbocharged civic was way faster than my Z... but no regrets!
I know this has been said but, Im gonna say again it anyway. Z's where designed as a handing machine. They have IRS (Independant Rear Suspention), so any car with IRS is made more for handling than 1/4 mile. If they had a live rear axle they would bit a lot harder. Nissan is famous for wheel hop b/c of IRS. But like I said, they are handling cars. My Z, stock for stock, will out handle any car with a live rear axle. Also, the Z's have a 3:91 gear ratio (3:54 in Tracks, dont ask me why) which isn't great for 1/4 mile. It's more for top speed. Put a live rear axle and some 4:11's in a Z and with the right driver, run mid 13's. And thats all I have to say about that.
hey hey, its a neon untill you get beat by it, then its a srt4 lol! thats what my friends used to say with them, great little cars, he was in the 11's bummer he was on his second engine! they have a 6 bolt bottom end so they are very strong, but they blow valves left and right! And that damn 4th cylinder always seems to go on the srt4's but thats my experence with them up here! Cuz everyones got one. but over all nice performance, but sucky looks and tq steer like a mother f!

i have yet to have any problems with my car. only thing that sucks is the fwd owns you. a set of traction bars along with an H-brace though will take care of all wheel hop!
