for "that's wierd"

The '05 Scion xB I just sold today was only $2 less per month to insure than my G35 Coupe, and both had identical coverage w/ $250 deductible.

27 y/o, no wrecks that were my fault, no tickets (that went on my record ) in 8 1/2 years, married.

This depends ENTIRELY on where you live.

^^^actually this entirely depends on a variety of factors and can't be generalized to any specific set of parameters since every state is different and every insurance company rates and weigh different factors. also no 17yrs old should be able to even get an insurance policy on their OWN since they are not considered a legal adult and thus not held liable for contracts (of course this might also vary to a certain degree depending on state law).

But a high rate is a red flag to ask a few questions. For instance, if a car has a lot of horsepower and is involved in a lot of crashes, that can also send insurance rates up, even if the car itself is relatively inexpensive.
Why am I not suprised.

I like how the G35 and the corvette (fastest all around car for the price) don't make the list.

I'm 25 with a clean record and my 350 is cheaper to insure than my previous vehicle (96 Prelude), it is also much cheaper to insure than my daily driver (2004 Civic).

When I got my Z I shopped around for insurance and it actually went down from my last car ('02 Dodge Neon) by about $200 every 6 months. My record is clean and I am in my 30's, so that probably helped.

I'm 28, have a clean driving record, and live in rural eastern South Dakota. My '05 ZR GT costs about $1,200 per year to insure with State Farm.

Today, just for the sake of comparison, I asked my agent what it would cost to insure an '07 C6 Corvette coupe. The agent said that the '07 Corvette would be about $200 LESS per year than the ZR. When asked why the 'Vette is cheaper, she said that the Corvette is viewed as a "safer" car than the ZR. Does anyone have any idea why the C6 coupe would be considered a "safer" car than my ZR, and why the insurance cost would be less?

I had 7, 8, 9. s2000 worried me every night due to the soft top. Rsx was stolen and now the 350z. No wonder my insurance kept getting cheaper, lol.

It depends on the bike. I drive a Ninja ZX10 and it is fuggin spensive. I own it outright so I don't even cover it at that price. I will fix it myself out of pocket.

My 03 R6 = 336 a year for FULL coverage. 350Z = $1300 a year for FULL coverage.
(30/M/Single. State Farm of TN policy to include renters insurance, 06 350Z GT and the R6.)

Going out on a limb here, but aren't most people able to afford a '07 C6 Corvette going to be older (Which will mostly relate to "more mature & responsible") drivers? Also it is a hard top which is a safer car for both crash and theft.

I pay less than $900 a year for my Z. I paid 100+ more in the last year for my 2000 Eclipse GT (trade in for Z), my rate actually went down when I bought the Z.
