Default Axle clicking

I have an 06 Z with only 310 miles on it. It already has the clicking noise from the rear axle. I know this topic has been covered alot but I just want to know is it really causing any damage or is it just an annoying sound. It doesn't really bother me I just don't want it to have a detrimental effect on my car. Would it be ok to wait till I bring it in for service next? Or should I go to the dealer sooner?

it'll be ok, but the ticking does get worse over time.

I had the service bulletin completed with about 42,000 miles on the car. Besides the clicking, the axle is fine. I assume that the clicking is not damaging to the axle. Just annoying.

I have the whole procedure downloaded from the Nissan TSB. It is a lot of work, so why not just take it to a dealership to do it for free? I went in last week, got out in 3 hours and now it's "tick-free".

hmm just heard too many horror stories around town concerning nissan dealerships, especially richmond infiniti
dont really wanna go through all the hassle if they curb my rims or what not but yea this clicking is driving me mad
i may drive to this dealership that is quite further from my house just because they seem to have a decent rep
well i guess "i have to" now since u just explained that it is a lot of work

I really don't know why it would take 3 hours to do? The master tech at the dealership I work at doesn't seem to think its that big of a job.

Ok, can someone help me clarify if my clicking is coming from the rear axle issue?

Yes, it is coming from that basic area. I hear it only when I'm idling or in slow first. However, I still hear the same clicking noise when I turn the car off and it's still hot. So I was thinking maybe it is an exhaust issue. (And no, it's not coming from the engine at all.) It's definitely under the car, near the rear axle. (In front of the tires, not behind.) Does this sound like the same issue?

Thanks in advance.

This may help. Could not find it for the 06, but this one is for 03-05 and should give a pretty good idea.

i had the rear axle tsb done and i didnt realize how annoying the clicking was until i got it fixed.....while i was their they also replaced the tranny under warranty...new clutch pedal under warranty...and replaced my roadsters top as well.....very happy with it all and the new clutch/tranny is smooth as silk and not nearly as notchy or as hard to push down on the clutch pedal.....might want to look into tsb work.....if the screw up...make em do it again...

I have a weird clicking sound coming from underneath the car that I only really hear if I am driving right next to a wall or curb, which throws the noise up at my ears. Didn't notice it until I put on an aftermarket exhaust system, but that may be coincidental. Does this seem like the same "axle" click???

Too vague a statement to tell. Try to be more descriptive.

It is a constant, repeated click that repeats faster as I move faster. Can't describe it much better than that unfortunately.

That 'ticking' noise is just the catalytic converters cooling down, don't worry
