I don't want a bigtul(4u) but here is what I got.

I preordered 6/17, received both my preorder confirmation and CD package yesterday on 7/11. It was a faster turnaround than I expected even though I was worried that the dealer pulled my leg about actually getting in a preorder.

Hang in there. I was told wait about 5 weeks.

You're only getting 2 Zs, bigtul? Nissan won't make an effort to provide you with any info unless you've ordered at least 3. Get out there and order another one, then they will treat you like a customer and provide you with information on the products you've ordered

Seriously, I have heard of dealers taking peoples down payments and hinting that they were getting in on the pre-order program when they knew full well that they had sold their full allotment(s), and were stringing the customer along until they could get him a car. Car dealers suck, and I hope you are in the pre-order program, and can actually get some answers. Good luck.

PS--It don't bother me, but I'm sure someone will mention typing in all-caps. On message boards, it signifies yelling, and a lot of people frown on it. Of course, you probably are yelling, so never mind

Uhh, looks like he said he will NOT call NNA, like you and zisme asked...just concerned because he hadn't heard anything about his cars, and zisme said in another post that if you hadn't heard something by now, let him know. That's all he was doing here.

I know some people say we have no right to info on our cars until they are late in delivery, but damn, it sure would be nice to know something about MY car. Is it on the assembly line yet? Is it actually on the boat?? Am I really going to get it in September?? Oh well, I'm not going to bother anyone to find out, but it would be nice if we could know

1. Many of us were told, in writing, AUGUST-OCTOBER, not September. August is TWO WEEKS AWAY. I don't think it is at all unreasonable for people to now try to find out if there car is going to be here in August.

2. We are calling Nissan, because they are the only ones who know anything. For some reason, there is no communication between the regions and the dealers. I am not sure why you think it is improper for us to try to get info about our cars. Perhaps $30K+ is petty cash to you and when the dealer calls you, you will write a check from your bank account. Unfortunately, for some of the rest of us, that kind of outlay requires PLANNING. Some our selling their other cars, arranging financing, maybe just cashing in CDs, but these are not things that can be done in a few days. With August , just over two weeks away, we are not being unreasonable to now want to find out if our car is coming in August or October.

I haven't received one confirmation yet and I got my order called in on June 7. I will be contacting my dealership shortly, or maybe I'll just answer my own question. Probably will be just a meaningful.

Jman,

I agree with robbyn! For those of us trying to sell our current car(92 300zx N/A), it is important to know when our cars will arrive so that we can PLAN and be ready. That seems to be a good reason to me!!

Default Maybe if you pre-orderd

I seriously don't.

Doesn't anyone realize that Nissan is busy? I have yet to see ONE good reason or excuse as to why we're calling them two months ahead of when they told us the cars SHOULD come in.

Did I miss something? Is Nissan some start up company that we're afraid of taking flight and taking our cash with them? Oh wait... that's right... NISSAN DOESN'T HAVE OUR CASH. The dealers do. We call the dealers and they pass the buck up stream.

Damn, dog eat dog or what!?

Well, best of luck getting info guys, I hope ZISME handles your requests but my money tells me he's a busy man and most likely can't handle every request made. Especially when there is no solid basis for any of the requests.

Being a customer isn't a solid basis. We ordered, we were told a date. Hard as it is, we need to sit back, enjoy the summer and chill until that time comes or rolls around. I am sure that in the past, we'll be kept up to date on events should anything come up.

Maybe if you pre-ordered then you would understand. Maybe if a dealer representing Nissan had $2,500 of your money for months you would understand. I have a confirmation letter that says contact my dealer for more information in the June/July timeframe. It's almost mid July and my dealer knows nothing. The letter also said August-October delivery. It is almost August and those of us that pre-orderd need to make plans; financial and otherwise. We need information and since Nissan isn't living up to their promise of on-going dialogue then we need to initiate it. What is so hard to grasp about that?

Also you write posts that say "our" cars and "our" money. Who exactly is this "our"? You must mean those of us that actually pre-ordered; people like me. As I recall, you haven't pre-ordered so you're not part the the "our" group you so often write about. If you were then you would probably understand.
And one other thing: regarding your statement "doesn't anyone realize Nissan is busy"- Doesn't Nissan know that we, their customers, are busy?

Speaking for myself, when I pre-ordered I was promised an August delivery date, with hope for delivery in July. To have no information from the dealer as of July 12 is definately a cause for anger, in my opinion.

No flame war intended. I have no plans for calling Nissan and have been going through my dealer since day one, but I can give you some very good reasons that do not relate to over-excited Z fans.

1. In this day and age of the Internet, people have come to expect certain levels of customer feedback / communication / satisfaction through the Internet. One may feel it is unjustified, but it is an expectation none-the-less.

2. The word on the street about some dealerships is that they will not tell you when your car arrives so they can show it to others, especially new models. There are some absolute horror stories about this. Perhaps "urban legends" but a lot of anxiety is tied into this for most folks. Although several of my friends have warned me about this, I do not believe my dealer/sales person will do this. If I did, I would call in a heartbeat.

3. Dealers and perhaps more specifically automobile sales persons, are not known for their competence nor integrity. Whether true or false, that perception exists. And obviously many automobile manufacturers also believe this perception, both foreign and domestic as evidenced in several mechanisms. Given the magnitude of this perception, I think it is natural and expected behavior to take actions in defending yourself such as getting in contact with the manufacturer even if it isn't a brand new model line let alone a 350Z. There are other actions that can be taken, but it is an appropriate next step and more importantly easy.

Add to that, some dealers are recommending it. From my standpoint, this forum has provided me and my DEALER / sales person with very valuable information. From information I have gathered here, together we have been able to get more information than we could have done by ourselves and pass it on. At this point, my dealer is telling people to go to the Internet and more specifically, I have suggested to him to tell them to go to www.my350z.com.

If I can take a quote from a movie again, I think it would sum up peoples feelings:

"I feel I have been denied critical, need-to-know in-for-mation"

So yes, by all means, lets get over it, I was before it even started, as I've stated before, I find this fascinating. I just like to understand and 'fix' things, especially when they are obvious and involve skewering windmills.

Default HEY LADYPOD

Ladypod:

I'm just taking a wild guess here, but does your screen name by chance mean that you are a lady orthopedic surgeon? If so, welcome. I'm a "bone boy" myself. If you are not, "pod" is short for orthopod and that's why I asked.

I was going to post an enlightening reply to this thread, but I cannot get over the nerve of our dear Dr Bonz to break-up the flow of the post with his Ladypod pick-up line!
