We had a G35 come in here once where they jacked up the car by the fuel tank... It was done at some other shop... When we showed it to the guy he was pissed...

DT is first class. They just had 2 guys with brain farts.

It's nice dealing with a company like that, which admits its mistakes and takes care of them promptly.

I've always been treated royally at Discount Tire and the work they have done for me has been flawless.

Mike (they're one of my favorite service "vendors")

Luckily I saved a copy to my HD, I'm having problems finding the thread. (I think the OP titled the thread weird which is making it hard to find)

When I swapped rims (upgraded from Track to Nismo rims), I pout my car up on jackstands in my garage, then took the rims and new tires to the dealer to have them mounted and balanced. I kept the center caps and swapped out the TPE sensors myself. The dealer only lets one guy handle expensive rims, so they were careful. Then I carted them home and mounted them on the car myself. Tell me I'M not paranoid...

LOL... you're as bad as me! I watch the guys like a hawk when getting anything done, which isn't much. It's not that I don't completely trust them, for they are Certified, but they are also human and mistakes happen. I try to combat those mistakes by expressing to them how much I care about my car, and if anything happens I will kill them. So usually they take their time when servicing my Z. j/k, kind of ^...

Wouldn't the rust protection be messed up even if you hit it with a mallot?

wouldn't jacking up the undercarriage, and leaving circular imprints, cause improper alignment? i mean, isn't it part of the frame, so that would cause all kinds of things to go off? just wondering...

and is it really $800 to fix those kinds of dents at the body shop?

I've accidently jacked up my civic on the body before and made a buldge. Luckily it was in an rear passenger's foot area. I just stomped on it with my shoes on and it was fine.

I think your Z should be ok, especially since it happened to only one side. You have an honest mechanic if he told you to do it youself, versus having him do it and taking your $800 bucks!
