This is a photo of my first modified 260Z coupe, with another 2+2 parked behind.



And then I moved up to my 300ZX



And finally ... this is my fourth and probably last Z car.

 

I HAD at 1978 Black 280z. I loved that car. My wife loved that car. She really wanted to drive away from our wedding in that car. Unfortunately, two weeks before our wedding some ditzy young girl decided I no longer needed it and hit me head on...totalling the car. Of course, I had just spent money on the tranny and clutch and other stuff the insurance company deemed unrecoverable!!!!

That car handled so very well. I wish I had another.

I particularily like the bulging fenders, lip and the buit in spoiler. Is that a special edition because the red pic in post #21 looks a bit different and not as racy? Also I see the headlights are different, spot lights and the chrom trim on the windows.

BTW, what did you with it? You don't have to answer that! Sorry. Just had to ask; such a pretty car.

 

2 240's, 1 260{74} the only year they made it, 2 78' 280's. After the ZX was introduced I lost intrest in the body style, though one of my 280's had the Jim Cook wide body conversion{no pics}. They were sooooo affordable back then.

The first car I owned was a 81' 280zx man that car was awsome at the time with its T-tops and "on board computer" sitting bottom center in the guage cluster. I sold mine in 97' for $1500-that was with 2 leaky injectors and a **** load of rust.I'm sure its scrap metal now

 

82 280ZX stolen, 74 240Z sold

 

The first car I ever bought was an '86 300ZX Turbo, arrest-me red. The cops were always harassing me, seeing a teenager driving around in a bright red turbo Z. That car was in PERFECT condition. I took a job working 60 hours a week with a carpenter all summer to save up most of the money for it. But, I eventually sold it because it was an automatic, and I really wanted a manual. I didn't really have the time or money to convert it at the time.

 

wish i will be lucky to own a rebuild 240/260 in the future, those are hotter than all the Hooter's girls combine

 

Thanks for asking. The fenders are flared and lots of fiberglass work. The rear spoiler is 3-pieces. Also fiberglass into the body. Entire car is repainted.

I broke my leg in a skiing accident, and could not drive the car. Sold to a coworker.

 

I am still the original owner of both a 1972 240Z and a 2003 350Z. Both are silver with black interiors. Long live the mighty Z!

78 280z I loved that car.

 

Chinaclipper- WOW! that is a nice looking 240. It's also an awsome photo for seeing just how much of the Z DNA has been passed down to the 350

 

A good amount of size difference as well.

 

I owned a '77 280Z 5spd for approximately 12 years (from mid-'80s to late '90s). It had "large" 15x7.5 Enkei rims with 50-series profile tires (this was a big deal in the '80s since original rims on mid-'70s Zs were 14x6.5 ). My Z also had suspension lowered 1.5" on Tokico springs with large diameter anti-sway bars and stiff urethane bushings (instead of the soft oem rubber bushings) and adjustable Tokico shocks. I sold my Z with 205,000 miles on it for $1,800.

I was planning to upgrade to a new 300ZX in the mid-'90s. After I got married and we had our first child I was forced to get a proper 4-door car instead (some nonsense about not being able to carry a baby in the front seat, or something silly like that ).

I remained a loyal Z fan, and came back to the Z family approximately 3 months ago, when I got my '04 Z Roadster.

That's sweet! My buddy has a heavily modded '71 240Z. That's what inspired me to get the 350. Great cars!
