Yeah this **** is not funny. I had mine egged 2-3 months after I got it (required a total repaint). My old car (96 Prelude) was keyed and some jackass punched my drivers side mirror off.

Just noticed a crease in the rear fender of my Z the other day too.....thanks *******.

 

Mine got keyed two weeks after purchased. Passenger door.

 

EFX's car will get keyed...and when he post it...davidv u can laugh. Sorry to hear your car got keyed and spray painted bro!

 

So did mine...mine was the driver side door. It's gonna cost over $400 to fix because it was very deep. I had to buy a touch up pen and touch it up to prevent it from rusting.

 

I got a very superficial scratching on the passenger's door from a half-hearted attempt to key mine... got it back in shape with ultra-fine polish from Meguiar's. After waxing you have to put your nose to the paint to notice it.

I agree that there is a lot of hate out there for the Z... it is way too good looking for its own good ... but that's the way it is... Z'less people just can't stand it!!

So on a related subject. Anyone got any recomendations for alarms that will chirp when someone gets near the car and go off when someone touches it.

 

There are several options on proximity alarms, but they are a PITA on certain places... here in my country we are kind of crowded on the parking space part, and I can imagine the thing going off every 5 seconds

The other issue with alarms is that they are not that much of a deterrent, if you ask me... one guy can key your car and be gone much quicker than you would be able to get to the car... a sad fact of life!

My car has been knifed on the hood, front bumper, roof, both doors, rear bumper, hatch, AND got debadged... all at once. I used touch up paint (PPW is hard as hell to match) and everywhere except the hood and the driver's side door looks okay now. Then I got my driver's side door repainted. With the hood, I am just gonna live with some nasty marks on it.

Oh yeah, after my car came back with the door repainted, my car got spray painted red under the rear bumper (right side), and my right exhaust tip. What the ****?

Even though I get shiiiiiit from haters, I still LOVE my Z.
Someone on this forum once told me that there is a special place for the Z-haters in hell. A very deep hell-hole for those ******s. So **** the Z-haters!

 

so with everybody getting keyed whats the best way to prevent or deter it?

 

Probably avoid parking in places that have frequent low-lifes is one. Avoid parking in crowded spots (near the front door of a mall) but also park under a light post. Dont be an jerk and double park even if out in the middle of nowhere. Chirping alarms just make people want to key your car.

 

1.Get a second vehicle...something cheap to park for long periods. Or to go to work or Gracery store.
2. Get a car cover, keyers may be to lazy to remove it.
3. If you have the means then move, you probably can afford more than the punks surrounding you if your have Z has been: Stabbed,Spray painted, bricked, egged etc...these are warning signs....call a realtor

some peace of **** threw an egg on my car while I was driving @ 4am. didnt see anyone and it left a small ding on the front fender. the car is only 5 weeks old.

 

just get a sticker - "U scracha me car - I'll FKN MAC 10 Yo A$$!!"

 

Mine was keyed about a month after I got it. Had less than 1000 miles on it. They started on the headlight and went all the way down the driver's side to the antenna. Had to replace the headlight and have the entire side repainted. About $2500. F**king haters...

 

left my car outside of wawa for 10min and the whole rear driver side quarter panel has a DEEP! scratch in it. People WTF!

 

My cars been egged but never keyed thank god...

 

For whatever reason, there is a lot of hate out there directed at Z drivers. There is really nothing you can do to stop the keying, egging, or painting except be as careful as possible. People cut you off for no reason and then laugh, they park so close you can't get in your car and leave door dings and give you the finger for nothing It's just jealousy, that I can't understand. If we drove a Ferrari or some other exotic I would get it, but the Z is everywhere.
