Default incompetent Nissan Serivce Dept

So I took my car for a regular oil change and routine inspection. Drove it home and the next day when I went to work I started hearing a 'chattering' from under the hood. I opened the hood and found the entire underside of my hood splattered in oil. It appears those clowns have forgotten to put the oil cap back on. I must have driven at least 10 miles like that.

Do you guys know if that does damage to the lifters/rocker arms?

I called the service manager and they said 'its human to make a mistake'. Next time I'll make sure they put the cap back on after oil change.

GEEZ.

Did the dealership still have the cap?

I've had a mechanic leave a rag under the hood and a mechanic from Pep Boys (never again!) forget to put the bolt back on my caliper. I drove for 50 miles before i heard some clanking noise. It was my caliper hitting my rim. They should know that having parts left over is BAD.

No. The cap was sitting on top of the engine cover and it didnt fall off for some reason.

Make sure you report to the dealer as he owe you a new cap, some free oil changes, and a butt chewing for the technician that blew the maintenance. Stuff happens ... now they need to make it better.

Christ sake be a man about it . The Service Manager and the Tech? both should just go to work for the County Rd Maintenence Crew. To shovel asphalt is only human!!!

i always change my own oil cuz if something goes wrong, i know who to blame....lol
i just changed the rear axle oil with synthethics this morning...MPITA, a little messy using a hand pump. i wouldn't recommend doing this on jack stands though, but the satisfaction of DIY is worth it i guess....the old oil was hell of dirty.

They forgot to close my hood after an oil change. I didn't notice until I was doing about 80. It didn't fly up though. I almost wish it had.

That's why I change my own oil too, plus I like to just check things out underneath from time to time.
I was in a big hurry to go on a road trip and stopped by Jiffy Lube (never go there!!!) on the way out for a quick oil change. They drained the tranny fluid instead of the engine oil on my 4Runner!!! OMFG!!!! Luckily I was watching!!! He'd have put 5 more quarts of oil in the engine and I'd have driven away with 10 qts of engine oil and a half empty tranny!!!
I got a free tranny oil change by watching
