Default 350Z or Evo IX MR???

I'm in a dilemma right now of either getting a 05-06 350Z or 06 Evo IX MR.

Here's what I came up with:

Please feel free to add to this list of pros and cons and I may be wrong on some of the things below (so please dont flame!)

I am not creating this thread for flame wars to occur...just want raw facts.

Pros of Z
-more reliable
-looks better (IMO)
-less attraction from cops (probably the same?)

pros of MR
-faster with less bolt ons
-more practical (more seats)
-better gas mileage

cons of Z
-only 2 seats
-mods are expensive (to get it to MR level)

cons of MR
-less reliable since its turbo
-higher depreciation rate than the Z

Does it void your warranty once you add bolt ons the MR?

Sorry, this email is long...just wanted to hear your opinion.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

have you driven both cars? if not, i suggest you go do that. i had the chance to sell my Z and get a evo 9mr. while the evo will pretty much out perform the Z in every way, and while I can deal with the looks of the evo, there was just something about driving the two that made me keep the Z.

lol if u guys have a chance to watch Best motoring 2006 March version.
I suggest you do that. Let keichi tsuchiya tell you all about it.
for those of you who can't find the video clip.
Z was ranked in 3rd(along with rx7, Boxster S), Evo 9 GSR was
ranked in 11th. He said something like "If Z was lighter, rx7 will be scared"
1st was s2k, 2nd was BMW Z4.

Some might say different, but to provide professional's opinion~

If you can imagine what a V6 japanese sedan motor wedged into a sports body feels like that is the Z.

If you imagine what a 4 banger turbocharged rocket engine dropped in an econobox is like that is the EVO.

I'm pretty sure you can mod the MR slightly without voiding the warranty. Look at your cons I think you want a Z or at least hot chicks can picture you better with one.

One question: what's your goal? If you just want a great stock car, get the Z. If you want high #'s get the EVO.

I think the Z gets about the same attention from the cops as an Evo, At least for me its true. For me I think the Z is for more of an DD kind of car. I think it would be safe to say that 9 out of 10 people that owns a Z brought it for the looks. Although the Evo looks pretty good as well. The Z wins by looks hands down. The Evo with a few bolt ons could just about beat any stock car under 80k, easily. So in the end its basicly up to you. Do you want more performance or better looks. But you also have to think about this. The Z is a 2 seater, could you live with that. Before I got my Z I knew I had a 4runner that I could drive incase I needed more seats. Do you have another car that you could use to carry more people? Does that really matter to you? Lastly is this car going to be DD or Weekends? Think carefully before choosing. Either way you really can't go wrong, but really good cars. Good Luck.

Evo's don't really stand out even with the wing on the back. There's something about 4-door cars that no matter what you do to them, their lines are still not as good as a two door coupe. Don't get me wrong, the Evo is an awesome car but I'd rather have the Z for the engine note alone.

Get an EVO IX MR.

Since they're going to change the design anyway.

You live in SoCal for gawd sakes there are Z's everywhere. You're not going to stand out for shiet unless you mod the car to hell.

I sound bitter, but I rather push someone off the fence when they're on it. Especially if the other side is a 4-door rally car??
For alot of us, it was no contest, but if you even have to consider the EVO, get it.
More practicality, more power potential, more boy racer street cred...yadda..yadda...yadda...

We always answer questions with more questions! My answer: go with the Evo, less Z's the better!

drive both... my gf rode in my Z and C6... and she put this very well, "the sti and evo feel like a toy compared to your cars...i dont like it, its not quite as refined.." i agree its more of a track car then anything else... FUN but not for driving out to a nice dinner or around town.. just my 2 cents

I'd probably go with the MR. I got my Z primarily because it was significantly cheaper (less than 30K). The Evo is definately faster and more practical, unless you're planning on driving on the highway too much. In short, price, looks, and comfort are in the Z's favor. Everything else goes to the evo.

edit: it sonds like i'm hating on the Z here, but i love the Z for reasons that arn't entirely explainable or logical. If you have the money for either, the Evo just makes more "sense"

if u want performance Evo hands down.

btw the 4g63t in the Evo is NOT less reliable than the vq35. just cuz it's a turbo engine doesn't make it less reliable...it can take little bolt-ons to run 330-350whp and does so very reliably (as most Evo owners have proved, check www.evolutionm.net)

with that said the faster car isn't always better. drive both back to back and decide which driving experience u prefer. the Z is a front engine rear wheel drive with a n/a v6 with great low end torque, while the Evo is a front engine all wheel drive with a 2.0 liter and a big turbo.

drive both...nothing anybody say here will mean sh*t jack untill u drive it and decide for urself. but before the drive, educate urself more about both cars...check that Evo board and find answers to all ur questions. do the same for the z33 here (it's a great forum with loads of information)

good luck mate.

Don't forget about the interior and build quality. Evo's interior is crap, if you care that is. Also, their build quality and customer service sucks. I recall a story about someone in an evo8 getting into a very minor accident and their rear view mirror fell off due to the collision. Just my

It's a very fast and roomy car though

The EVO is for the kiddies....So it all boils down to THIS...Are you a boy racer or a man who has the capability to fully appreciate the Z and it's heritage?

If you want the quickest car from A to B, get the EVO.

If you want a car that you can actually enjoy driving at normal speeds, go cruising in, get the Z.

how does the evo ourperform the z in "every" aspect...i get spanked of the line..but from a roll..you'll walk all over the evo..plus..an intake in an evo voids the warranty..
