I'm guessing you have street tires? You don't heat up street tires unless you just want to show off or run a pathetic ET.

Dont do it. You risk the chance of breaking the mount that holds the differential, unless you dont mind....what you can do is put it in 1st press the brake and the gas at the same time until your tires start to slip then you just feather the brake and the throttle for desired tire smoke cloud

Can't powerbrake the 5AT unless you pull the brake fuse. Won't let you rev past 3k rpm with brakes applied.

And as was pointed out before, you don't heat up street tires.

Unless you have Pilot Sports. they react very favorably to a burnout.

Most other street tires you should bypass that as noted above.

You need to take out your rear stop light fuse which will allow a full burnout. Place left foot on brake right foot on gas and light them up.

If you press THE BURN in my sig you will see the results when using Michelin Pilot Sports. They get stickier when hot. Don't even think about doing that with potenzas

If you are a serious drag racer, you would know about a line lock. Weekend racers, like myself, use street tires. I try my best to avoid the water box.

My time slips showing 2.0 second sixty-foot times are posted throughout the drag racing forum.

Don't bother "heating" your street tires. The have tread on them more than likely and they will stick to the pavement when you have your VDC and traction control on. Heating tires is only for those who have drag wheels that don't have tread.

No way in hell I would do burnouts in Pilot Sports. Too much damn money down the drain.

Then why abuse it?

I got 25k out of the back tires doing that. I drag race, that is what I do. My drag radials cost almost as much and they only last for a few thousand miles.

The tires would last even longer if I kept the Z in my garage. I can afford the tires and I don't golf.

Which one is the "rear stop light fuse" and where? Do a search and you will find pictures. BTW: turn off vdc and tdc while doing this wasteful manuever.

No, it is free. The fuses are in the kickplate by your left foot. You will see a panel, remove it and it will show you which one is the stop light brake fuse. With this removed it only effects the stop light and fools the computer so that brake and gas can be applied at the same time without the computer telling the engine to cut back 30% of power because it senses an unsafe condition.

obviously you need to replace that fuse before you go back out on the streets.
As davidv notes above a line lock is the best way to go for a serious drag racer.
