The VDC is the traction control. It includes both traction and stability control. You can shut it off by pushing the botton and turning it off.

If your car has a VDC switch, you don't have a TCS switch but the VDC switch turns them both off.

If you only have the TCS switch, then that's all it turns off.

From your owners manual:

If the vehicle is operated with the vehicle dynamic
control system turned off, all VDC and
TCS functions will be turned off. The brake LSD
system and ABS will still operate with the VDC
system off. If the brake LSD system or the ABS
is activated, the slip indicator light will blink and
you may hear a clunk noise and/or feel a pulsation
in the brake pedal. This is normal.

You did read your owners manual didn't you?

Actually, from what I understand even though you have it turned off, in extreme "upset" conditions it can still kick in. Some people have gone as far as adding a switch to cut the power to the G-force module located in the center console. That is the only way to 100% disable it. 99% of us don't need to go to that extreme.

My guess is that they tied something directly into the VDC/TCS/ABS control module. The FSM doesn't list a pin out for the TCS switch, it only shows a connection for the VDC On/Off switch. The pin outs for the TCS/ABS module are totally different than those for the VDC/TCS/ABS module so you probably can infer that you could use the same pin # for the TCS control.

The Million $ question is this - why do you want to leave VDC on yet turn TCS off?
