Default Insurance questions

I am going to be purchasing a 2005 350z in the next month or two. I have been shopping for insurance, and the lowest I can find is like 210/mo, not much less than my car payment will be. I am a 24 year old male in the state of Texas - 9 months from 25 I hate to get gouged like this, becuase my last car (03 Celica) was around 150. I have a clean record. Shopping around for better rates .... well ... isn't getting me any better rates. I guess its becuase my my age and gender.

Anyways, I'm wondering ...

1. How old are you?
2. Where are you from?
3. How much do you pay for full coverage insurance?
4. Who do you insure with?

Thanks for your input.

38/married
West Texas
Comp/collision thru USAA $500 deductible

I pay $225 every 6 months for my Maxima and since my ZR is in storage, its $79 every 6 months!

So about $470-$525 every 6 months for both of my vehicles!

Factors for me, are I am in a small city in West Texas, I am married, over 25, multiple vehicle discount, no tickets, accidents, claims, ect! Many, many factors including credit history play a big role in insurance premiums!

Welcome.

There are several recent How much do you pay for insurance? threads. You can review them for more information, but that information will be of little value. There are too may variables for a realistic comparison.

If $2,520/year is the best you have found, then go with it.

Everyone is different with thier rate, no 2 drivers are the same. Call a few companies and go with the one you want. Make sure they all quote you the limits, as full coverage does not mean any thing except you have comp and coll.

I should note I have a few discounts, most important is my good student discount (college ftw!), apparently it saves me a few hundered every 6 months. I also have a speeding ticket in the past year.

To the OP, thats a ripoff. If you have clean record (TRULY), then check out Geico. They love well behaved drivers.

My Z is almost entirely financed:

1. 23
2. New Haven, CT
3. $500 collision/$1000 comprehensive deductibles: $1900 (~$160/mo)
4. Geico

If you have a clean record, you're getting ripped for $210 a month. There's got to be someone who will charge you less.

My insurance info:
23 years old
$190.00/month
2003 350Z Enthusiast-Pleasure
1994 Chrysler LeBaron (my not-so-beaten beater )-Business
Progressive Insurance
3 speeding tickets, only one during the time period that Progressive cares about (your rate will depend [with Progressive] on any moving violations within the past 35 months, nothing prior).
Do not forget, your credit score also has something to do with how much you are charged (this may be why yours is so high?).

Yeah i was wondering how much it would be for me when i buy an 06-07 in the spring next year. Right now I pay 140 a month for an 98 Civic in Mass. Only 2-3 speeding tickets and no accidents. The cops in my town have nothing else better to do but pull you over for anything. I think its cause i got a fart can on the it. oh well cant wait til i have enough to put an 8K down payment on it in 4 months.

I bet the Z is cheaper than the Civic, you would be surprised! When you get the Z, leave the fart can on the civic!@

Yeah, it does seem to be pretty high. The funny thing is it <is> with Geico. I have a truly clean driving record, save a ticket or two in the past couple years. I've been with Geico for 4 years with several different cars. The only variable that I can imagine puts my insurance so high (besides that I'm 24) is where I live - in the downtown Houston area.

In any case, its not a huge deal or anything. I'll pay whatever I have to pay, and just hope it goes down next June when I turn 25.

Thanks a lot for all y'alls input.
