Do not let it go. I know its too late but in the future... always get a police report. I hate to see nice guys in 350Z get hit by a piece of crap and then get screwed. The other guy is laughing at you.

What kind of coverage do you have? I have a $500cdn deductable setup so I have to pay $500 of the work to be done on the car and the insurance company pays the rest.

A good body shop can probably have that fixed for under $250usd. So you have to ask yourself, what type of insurance do I have, and do I want my insurance rate to go up when I can just pay $250usd to get it fixed.

I hope you got the guys personal phone number because often, the other guy tells you to take it to a shop he knows to get a quote and if it's reasonable, he'd rather pay the quote then have his insurance know that he rear-ended you.

Good luck.

Well here's an update. I got his insurance company to assume liability which means that they are going to fix the bumper and give me a rental car for 3 days.

Only problem is I want them to replace it and not try to fix it. I am going to try and talk them into doing this.

I really don't want to leave it at their shop for 3 day either but sounds like that is whats gonna happen.

Hope it doesn't get ugly!

See if they (his insur.) can just cut you a check ... $600 (if that's what the estimate is) can get you a nice aftermarket bumber. Painting it would be extra.

They might do that. What would you guys suggest for going aftermarket? I have seen a few but it seems like you need to have the full body kit with it or it wouldnt look right.

just have a body shop bondo it and match paint it, you'll never know the difference and it beats buying a new bumper and painting an entire bumper
.
