Unless, there were actual witnesses who saw him do it, his folks insurance wouldn't pay for crap! You need proof, not just an allegation to suffice.
But in all reality, its because of people like this and things they do, that I'm a huge, I repeat a HUGE supporter of public punishment. Like tarring and feathering people, or stoning, or whipping, or branding and more preferably, disfiguration. This is the only way to breed order in society and combat f*ucking tools like him!

Yeah that is a small claim case in the making. Then afterwards he is founded with the hell beat out of him in intensive care for a couple weeks. Of course you were palying cards with at least 12 of you friends and parents, during the time of the assault. I'd take his parents to court make them pay for another factory paint job.
Then open a can of a$$ whipping on him so deep that he will never ever even look at another Z-car without feeling that a$$ kicking!!!

Damm that sucks. The last thing you want to do is park a car like that in a high school parking lot. Maybe you should give your son a ride to school and keep the Z at home. Just my to cents. If you keep taking flashy cars like that to school even collage parking lots it's a target for **** like that to happen. Looks like the car is going to have to be repainted. Because even if you get the paint off it's still not going to look the same. Times have changed when I went to school stuff like that never happend. When I have a kid there first car will be a used Z at most $5000. I will pay half the other half better come from flipping burgers or something.

To answer everyones questions about what happened after this event...
We found out who did it from a number of sources. One of which said he had it on video tape (he always has one for some reason) and then tried to sell it to me for $500.00. Knowing the damage was far more than $500.00 I took his offer and on the way to go get the tape I called and he told me that I no longer could come get it because the kid who did it made him delete it at school the next day. (what kind of idiot would bring a $500.00 video of something like that to school knowing he was in your class) So I asked the kid to be a whitness in court which he agreed to.
We got enough proof to get into court and everything was going fairly smoothly. The kid was clearly a F*ck up and his father came in with chains, fitted, and his pants at his knees. So we thought we had a good shot with almost everything in our favor until the boy who I asked to be a whitness got on the stand. I met this kid 2 days before and the kid seemed really insecure and a bit strange. When he got on the stand the judge immedietely asked him what his relation to me was. (I was thinking he would say, I go to school with him, or something along those lines) Instead the kid said I was his best friend. I was in shock and the judge thought that I was bringing all of my friends up there to testify against the kid. Needless to say it went down hill from there and we did not have the proof needed.
The kid who did it is actually in jail now anyway. He got kicked out of school then got into drug/gang issues. As far as I know he is still there.
As for the car... The day it happened we had to flatbed it a local body shop where the paint was to be removed. Some came off along with my cars actually paint. So needless to say the car had to be repainted. The engine bay had paint all in it as did the inside of my fenders. Most of the paint came off the windows and the plastic. The wheels got stained in a few places where the paint built up. (even on my new car I am still dealing with that) We ended up getting rid of the car but I still have a lot of parts off that car that show signs of the event.
Long story short.. Whether or not you try and be flashy and show off the chance that someone is going to be upset (especially in highschool) and want to vandalize a car that looks like that is extremely high. I never reved up, took more than one spot, parked anywhere other than student parking, or made it known that I drove a Z but it the end the kids that do this sort of thing dont care about who you are rather than what you have.
Hope this clears up some of the confusion about this incident.

my parents and i moved here in 1994 from South Africa, and while i agree that every you say is right, America is Great. There is a certain lack of responsibility for your actions here. It always someone elses fault. In SA, the judge would probably have turned a blind eye to a video of you beating the **** out of the kid that vandalized your car.
