Default is it still worth modding our cars?

Being that the new HR engine is coming out? I get mix feelings, some days i say sure, i'm still financing this car so might as well make the best of it. Then other days i say to myself, why not just save up the money that you will spend on mods and put it towards your next car since my current engine is already considered "outdated" soon.

I do realize, that the new HR engine will seem to be harder to exact addtional power since it's already come with TD exahust, and equal length headers and dual intake with new manifold, not to mention possible stronger internals.

what do you guys think? Continue to mod or lets just save up the money for new car? Sometimes, it sucks to see after spend thousands of dollars to get it fast and a new engine comes out making almost the same power are you stock.

do you realize how much money you WILL be wasting each time something better comes out.....if you ask me...i think its pretty retarded when you trade up cars just cuz it has 30 hp more..

seriously guys the hr motor will be a little better...but for the cost of trading your Z for a new one you could already have a built twin turbo Z
...but to each their own

Suppose it also depends on your liquidity. If you can afford new then might as well, but if not, then do what you can to what you have. Im saving for a house, so I picked up a PTJ to suppliment my hp addiction.

I am modding my car to make it mine, I have an 06 so it is still new, my point being that Nissan makes a great platform for us to make it individually ours, one could buy new but then you would have to mod it to make it how you want it, which is exactly what we are doing now......it's a vicious cycle i say

If the point of buying your car was to get the most horsepower possible you bought the wrong car

If you're out track racing every weekend and have now pushed the vehicle to the limits of its abilities talk to your race team sponsor and demand that they pony up the major green for a faster engine as leaving the chassis is a major relearning experience and you'll fall out of the top finishers for a bit of time, depending on how fast your crew and you learn the new chassis, possibly for a season or more. Even tampering with the engine set up can mean a couple of races of less than top performance so be careful when that swap is made.

When the 260Z was introduced, what did 240Z owners do? Were their lives over? Same for the 260Z owners. Did they commit suicide when the 280Z was introduced? And I guess every Z owner junked their cars when the 300ZX was on the street.

The Z has a long history. Every model year is special. Love your Z-car.

One Word: "Lease" If you want that "new car" rush every few years, simply lease it. You will have a smaller car payment, although a perpetual car payment, and be able to "keep up with the Joneses" so to speak. Can't mod, or put on a crap load of miles on it, but no need if you're always tradin up.

Well I don't know how much I'd mod my car if I was still paying it off. I'd probably pay it of before doing to much.

My only mod to the motor will be FI when the time is right and the car is paid for.

I wouldn't unless I had a purpose or goal. If there is something specific and significant that the new model can do for you that your current one won't then sure but otherwise why?

I agree. I'll trade my car when I'm tired of it. Not because the new models have been enhanced.

I couldn't agree more. I have both the G and a Z, i really don't want to invest any type of go fast mods to either of my cars. I am actually happy with the power of both cars. Then again i am getting older (soon to be 28 this Nov) so really my urges for speeding aren't as bad when i was a teen or my early 20's. However i have a bike that feeds my speedy needs

By the time new aftermarket parts are available to mod the HR, a new engine will be out again...

What!!!!!! I just turned 51. CF hood going on tomorrow. I'm not running around racing everyone, but damn. Putting some Jack in his place every once in a while is good for the soul.

Its still worth it to me. I love my car and I really don't want to part with it because of a new engine. Remember, it already has true-dual exhaust and equal-length headers IIRC, so modding that engine, at least NA, doesn't seem like its going to yield much. And like previously said, its new. Its going to take awhile for parts to come out.

FWIW, I will be modding mine.
