The thing that slows me down is I try to think about everyone else's well being....never mines. You find yourself more afraid of hurting someone else than you are yourself.
Sometimes I'll just imagine everyone on the road is 16 years old and just got their liscense. It's a scary thought and forces me to watch my speed.
The reality of it is, someone can do something stupid any second on the freeway like change into your lane abruptly, spin out etc... Combined with your wreckless driving, it can be castrophic and it wouldn't matter who's fault it is when you're both six feet deep.

"Reckless" driving, however, is another story.
I have driven 20 years in California. I get an average of 1 ticket per year. I got rear ended 6~7 times. Never caused any accident(Knock on wood!). I only drive wreckless or wreckfree when provoked. But still I need to go to school for anger management and learn how to obey the traffic laws while driving.
Keep those flames coming..

There are two different types of power at play here. First, there's the mechanical power of your car. But on a more subtle note, there's also the issue of your mental, or emotional, power. Are you familiar with Pirelli's marketing slogan? "Power is nothing without control." I think there's a lot of truth to that. Anyone can get behind the wheel of a powerful car and nail the throttle. But it takes a mentally powerful person to exercise restraint, and this is what you need to take to heart and try to focus on developing. If you don't work on this aspect of life, then your DL problems could be just the tip of a larger iceberg to come. Today your lack of restraint causes you to drive recklessly. Tomorrow, your lack of restraint could cause you to pull out a gun and shoot someone unjustifiably for cutting you off. Or maybe you'll get into an argument with your wife and fail to restrain yourself from battering her. Or maybe you'll have kids one day and one day one of your kids will act up, and you'll fail to restrain yourself from knocking the crap out of him/her and next thing you know you're in prison for child abuse. You get the idea.

If you've been rearended 6-7 times total and get one ticket a year, you suck at driving and lack the emotional maturity to be operating a motor vehicle. I bet if one was to examine your driving habits, evidence would indicate that your were at fault (maybe not fully) for some of those times you got rearended.

I take it you got caught driving with a suspended license.
Therefore my analogy is, YOU'RE an IDIOT in the first place with driving on one. Why you giving us older guys a bad name.

And what you should do is quit driving altogether or buy a moped before you hurt yourself and/or other people.
aha im 19, and most if not all of the time i drive speed limit or a little over, theres too much at risk when you drive fast, but if your 100% sure you can speed safely, then go for it, getting a ticket is a different story.
I am not the only one driving like this. There are plenty wreckless drivers out there. At least I have the guts to tell people that I have done something wrong and I am about to correct my issues.
