Default 'Restore' Engine Lubricant & Oil Additive

Hey everyone,

Has anyone used the above-mentioned product? I've seen many commercials for it over the years so it must be good.

Was thinking abotu usign it in my Z aswell as my Sentra which has 167,000 miles on it.

Apparently, it helps to fill in and seal the abrasions and gouges in the cylinder wall to help improve compression which equals better power and gas mileage.

Besides, who doesn't want a, uh...cylinder that isn't tight!

So, any comments on this product or know anyone that has used it?

Thanks in advance.

Mark

if it's running fine, don't use it. I don't like those products.

Those products always scare me. Just stick to tune-ups on a regular basis.

Oh, that's some really sound logic!

If you have significant wear, or engine damage, nothing in a bottle is going to fix it.

I wouldn't use it in my Z... regular on-time oil changes are good enough.

I did however use it in my 1994 ford probe... it quieted the engine signifcantly while adding a slightly smoother engine feel. I would say try it in the sentra.

Don't let it near the Z.

I will get flamed ---But Iv been using Slick 50 for years. There is one for synthetic oil also. I use in my cars,my diesels and even my Riding Lawnmower. I use a bottle (2 in my diesel PU) every 6 or so oils changes.I had 325,000 on my diesel and the motor was as clean as the day it was bought and burned NO oil. My Z has 52,000, most of it boosted and never had to add oil between changes (4-5000 miles) My Lawn mower does 0-60 in 7.2 sec. << J/K on the LM

And I hate with a passion fly by nite crap that preys on peoples gullibility.

BTW ---I started using it cuz customers (Ranchers,Pilots,Reg people) were bragging it up so much

They obviously make money off of the product to air those inexpensive commercials.

That was my logic behind it but it doesn't mean I'm gonna buy it.

Agree. Use motor oil that meets the specifications in the owners manual. No need to fill the motor with snake oil.

Consumer Reports had an article on gas and oil additives a few years back. None of them had any measurable benefit over plain gas and regular oils. Yes, even Slick 50, STP and the other "legitimate" name-brand products.

Motor oils already have additives to make them "better" than pure oil alone. There's no need to add more just for the sake of adding them.

Try using SEAFOAM. I've heard good reviews about using SEAFOAM. Its not a lubricant, but it will clean the internals of your engine real good.

And making money off the product is also not a measure of performance.

Lots of companies make lots of money off all kinds of snake oil.
