While I agree with you that Americans as a whole are overweight, the term fat isn't necessary. Most people who are overweight (according to clinical terms) don't even know they are overweight. This is usually because those people are only 5-10 lbs over what they should weigh. Again, this is based on a ratio of height to weight. I myself, according to the ages old standard should weigh about 200-205. If I weighed this much, I would look like a bobble head doll, with an even more exxagerated head than they already have. No thanks.

The problem with weight as a measure for people's health is the inaccuracy. Weight exists solely because of gravity. Take the gravity away, and you get to what really counts: mass. People need to be measured in terms of their muscle mass to fat mass as a ratio for a true measure of their health. Even then, having an acceptable measure doesn't mean you don't have health problems elsewhere.

By the way, I can assure you I am not "fat", I am "big boned". I work out four nights a week to keep myself in shape.

Don't assume just because someone has a large weight that he/she is "fat".

And I thought I was being harsh on my buck-fifty friends for making the car scrape over speedbumps.

If your tom hanks weight, your avg.
If your rosie odonnell's weight, your fat. simple

Big boned is an excuse fat people made to make themselves feel better. Just like it doesnt matter if you win or lose, and when people say they rather have personality than looks. Your not born fat, and if you ate healthy you wouldnt get fat
