You reset it by having the mpg/avg speed on the guage, then holding the bottom button to the right of your speedometer till the numbers clear. I'm not too sure what mine is, but my DTE dropped about 25 miles today, and I only drove about 10 . I need to chill out.

Right now its 20.4 MPG. But thats because its mostly city-style driving.

Reset it on a long highway trip and see what it goes to. I've seen it as high as 25-26 mpg when averaging almost 30 mpg on long highway trips.

Did you not get an Owner's Manual when you bought your car?

I am at 25.4 and that is 3 days of heavy traffic on the 101 to hollywood, and 2 days of light traffic. I shift below 3000, and keep some distance infront of me when doing bumper to bumper traffic stops to prevent constant quick starts and goes.

At each fillup, I 1) reset the computer and 2) calculate the actual MPG. To my surprise, the computer is extremely accurate. BTW, I consistantly average 22.5-23.5, mixed city/hwy.

The computer is always right on the money. I was shocked to realize how accurate it was. I would say it is more accurate than anything else since if you calculate the mpg yourself, you really do not knonw if you 100% replaced what you used.

You can reset it anytime you want, but if you want to be able to verify its results with your own calculation, then you need to reset at the fillup.

I dont fill my tank often so would it be accurate if i put $10 or 20 in my tank then reset it? Gas here is like $2.71 i think i paid the other day

The computer doesn't care when you reset it. It will always start calculating from each reset.

If you want to calculate the usage in order to check/compare, you must start with a full tank and, then refill back to a full tank. How else can you determine how many gallons you actually used?

BTW, gas will still be $2.71/gallon, whether you buy 5 gallons at a time, or fill the tank.
