Default reving z in neutral bad???

I recently went sorta crazy. It was like being on LSD because my brain chemistry was all messed up. and i reved the crap out of the z in neutral. My dad says i screwed up the engine and is pissed. I really need to know what yall think, It feels mabey a little slower. Do you think I messed up the engine compression.

and if so, can I have the delearship fix it?

er.... ive never heard of revving in neutral a bad thing...... how else are you supposed to rev? it doesnt make sense to rev with it in gear if all you want to do is rev the engine.

The bottom line is that it shouldn't hurt your engine, assuming that you're past the 1200 mile break-in and that you don't make a habit of it beyond the normal throttle blip when down-shifting.

you would have to rev it over the redline, and then you could potentially bend a rod, which would hurt performance significantly.

doubt you did any real damage tho, but of course, redline is never "good" for your engine, but it tolerated for the most part.

The nice thing about neutral is that there is pretty much no load on the engine. Therefore, redlining in neutral is much easier on the engine than redling (well, full throttle actually) would be in gear. Therefore, as long as the engine did not go too far past the rev limiter, you should have no problems. I've bounced off the rev limiter numerous times during AutoX's and track events, and have had no problems (11,600 miles so far) so chances are very slim that you would have hurt anything.

Your dad is just paranoid!

How did your father find out about it? Did you tell him or did he notice something when he drove the car?

If you over-rev, you can bend the valves and you would lose compression but that would be impossible with the rev limiter, especially since you are in neutral.

I just told my dad that I did rev the car alot in neutral; I remember it bouncing off the rev limiter many times, never actually going past the point to red
