Default Trading 04.5 Z for 06 SRT6

Well, for a week that is.

Friend of mine at work just got a pre-owned 06 SRT6 (9k miles). I did some reading up on them and the numbers on paper don't appear half bad. Was talking to him and since he has always admired my Z, he asked to trade for one week. He's already talking about getting rid of it for a new Caymen.

I'll go for it and report back in a week.

Being the owner of a Crossfire (non SRT6) which at this time I am trying to sell I can tell you this you will want your Z back. The Crossfire is a nice car but wayyy too snug inside. Yes I am tall so that doesnt help but the comfort inside the car is not for me. The Z you can at least stretch your legs out and the seat angle is much better. Crossfires seats you cannot adjust very well and they lay right against the back panel so there is no way you can adjust them. Very annoying. I know I know I should never have bought the car but I loved the looks exterior wise and got a great deal on a roadster which I couldnt pass up. Now I cannot wait to pick up my Z tomorrow and sell the Crossfire. My roadster is a limited and only has 2,000 miles on it.

The SRT6 motor seems pretty bad ***. Its a Supercharged V6 with 330hp and 310 tq.

But I think the SRT6 is ugly, I like the regular crossfire much much better.
SRT6 just seems over done.

Would never consider a trade like that.

The motor in it does sound very nice and has some nice numbers. I hate the body style though. Kinda reminds me of a dog hunched over taking a crap.

Performance wise, the only bad thing I can recall reading/hearing about the SRT6 is the extremely harsh suspension setup. Other than that, should be a fun ride.

Better off with an SLK32. Same car, but with more power (349HP) and a retractable hardtop.

I've heard they dont have rack and pinion steering. All the reviews i've read have said the steering lacks feel. Steering feel is one of the best parts of owning a Z. I have a lot more confidence when pushing when i know whats going on under the front tires.

true, but considering you can pull just over 1g on a skidpad with TC off and it'll smoke a Z not a bad choice. I've thought of getting a srt6 over a Z and a g35 just for the sheer fact that they're some what exclusive.

not sure where you got that stat, but evey place i checked showed the crossfire SRT-6 only pulling a 0.90 on the skidpad eitherway, the SRT-6 is a ugly car and is not worth $45K IMO

Well, I sold my 03 Z about a month ago. I had it for 3 years and had 70,000 miles on it when I sold it. I have always loved the Crossfire SRT-6, but couldn't afford it...until now. You can get them cheap now. I bought a used (5k miles) srt-6 for only $25,000, perfect condition. You can buy them new for 28k now.

I will say it is much faster than the Z, about to get the Renntech Kit, which people are seeing 12.6-12.7 quarter mile times with, so even faster. More people have attempted to race me because they really don't know that it's the SRT-6 which is always nice...

I like the look of the Crossfire. I have seen either people really like it or hate it. But all I care about is what I like. I loved the Z, I will agree you cannot "feel" the road like in the Z...I will always love the Z...maybe when they do a few more changes, I will look at it again. I guess I wanted a different car after having my Z for 3 years and liked the Crossfire. I love the interior, it's tighter...I'm 6'0" and weight about 220, but still fit fine.

If it werent for the cramped quarters inside the car I would agree with you totally but that just ruined it for me ...I am 6'2" and weigh 205 and frankly just dont fit inside the thing. Otherwise the car is gorgeous but I dont think the limited handles like the Z...the Z feels like a true sports car and the Crossfire more like a touring car.
