The only way that'll make sense to pay that much per month is if you can not get greater returns investing it somewhere else to offset the interest on the car. Depending on what your credit rating is, on new cars you can still get up to 3%. That is easy to beat if you know where to put that 3k per month.
Good info. Youre right. The reason why I am thinking of going that route is because I want to come home from afghanistan and not have a big car payment hitting me. I am thinking of paying off half and refinancing for a lower payment. Perhaps you are right though. If i save that money instead, it might do me better in the long run. Not sure. I am trying to come home and have enough money saved that I can take off 3-4 mos and catch up with the two years of my sons life that I missed. So I was thinking of paying off all my bills for 6 mos, and have the Z completely paid off.

I owe alot on my 2005 with nav. The only one that comes close is 32K on his 2004. Dealers always take me to the bank. And as someone stated earlier " I only looked at the monthly payment" Oops

For my 2004 Touring, I've got ~$19k left.

Put down $5k and the monthly is $500.

Sounds reasonable. It's your life and your family, do what you think is best. Money, making or spending, is never the most important aspect in life. Just come back safe buddy.

Been here for nearly two years myself. Was on track to only stay a year, but I got hurt during a rocket attack. Spent four months home recovering which drained away what little we had saved. Otherwise I'd probably have mine, and maybe even paid off. Alas.. **** happens. Had to come back to get right again.

BTW.. thanks Fairlady, I definately wanna make it back to enjoy it. 6 more months and hopefully I leave for good. Yay!!!

I pwned this thread.

$38k on an 06 roadster with 8k (with most of the nismo stuff). Thank god my bank provides free upside down gap insurance. I'm in no hurry to pay off my Z. I plan on keeping it forever.
