Default Possibly Dumb Idea???

I noticed in the Motorsports section in the Drag forum they have a quartermile time thing going on. It looks like a great idea that people are able to post the times they are able to get with their car. What I was wondering about is I bought a Mustang mag awhile ago and they had devised various pkgs and what you would be able to run give or take a bit with a experienced driver. What intake gives what gains, add an exhaust and a spacer stuff like that. I know that their would be alot of differences between different areas but just a idea of what the cars would run or maybe make horse power wise. It is just that I am new to the 350z thing and I noticed the manufactures dont group together pkgs. I just thought it would be a thing we could do to get the most performance out of the car and not lead people down the wrong path.

Ok enough of my possibly stupid idea take it where ever you want too guys.

Sort of like the Mopar direct connect program from the 1970's?

That was a neat idea in that Mopar had a book that you could look up exactly what parts were needed to dial in a certain quarter mile time. They'd take a stock Mopar like the Baracuda and tell you step-by-step how to improve the quarter mile times by a half a second at a time listing out the part numbers and everything. Kind of neat.

Lot of variables there. I have a set up that Im thinking of going with and I have no clue if those things will mesh well together and get me a good quarter mile time. Most people just arent rich enough to take all the variables and test them out. I wish someone was though.

Its a good marketing idea but experienced racers will not buy it. If I see a package or a mod with a guaranteed performance, I usually run the other way. Run fast.

If you look at the times in the drag racing forum, you will see that stock times overlap modified times. So mods hurt ET? Of course not.

Its the driver not the car.

yeah the stang guys have vendors who do that. im sure there are Z vendors who can put together a good kit for various racing stuff. in my opinion, 350's are more into drifting and auto-x instead of dragging on the tracks. you still find some who drag for fun but it isnt a normal thing. the cars are more tuned to racing on the pavement around corners instead of straight line.
