Welcome!

By the way, that clear engine cover is for show - it would be pretty cool for the Z though.

The Hood -

That bubble on the '07 Z doesn't look all that bad in person, and it's not very noticeable, like, say Stillen's. I spoke to one of the representives and was told that the bubble isn't there only to make room for the new dual-intake plenum -- it's there to also make room for Nismo's upcoming super charger. The New plenum has an angle to it, just like the old plenum, so I think the old hood would still fit. It might be that Nissan is making room for a super charger.

The Engine (G35's)

The best part of the show was probably viewing the new VQ hr in person - that, alone, was worth the 8 bucks. It looks amazing, with equal-length headers, dual intake, LED lights flashing everywhere lol. The headers are a work of art, and it's pretty cool to see Nissan have things like that stock. Just from looking at the engine in person, I really think this new VQ HR is more of a raw sports-car engine than any previous VQ's put in the Z.
Dual intake? thats crazy!

I got suckered here in Las Vegas, too. They only had an 06 roadster on display.

And that's NOT the new Mustang. It was a Giugiaro exercise in style. There are no plans for production. Too bad.

that rep probably doesn't know what he/she is talkeing about. why go for an eaton type blower (only reason to explain the hood) when they can go centrifugal and not alter the lines of the Z? or what about the novidem s/c they use for the GT-S concept?

As deftones noted, that's not the new blue color - it was a dark gray type.

Yea, the new HR engine has dual intakes and equal-length headers and looks awesome. Those of you who are ready to buy a new Z, you should atleast wait to test drive the '07 before making up your mind. If you're one of those who want to buy a Z with a good engine foundation and keep it for 7-10 years, I think the upcoming '07 with its VQHR would be a very good choice.
Things like headers and dual intake manifold are good key items to upgrade to, because power is gained through efficiency, not dumping more fuel to make more power. But upgrading to those with aftermarket parts can be expensive, mainly from labor for installing the headers. The new HR has those stock, with factory warranty...it's pretty good.
