Question Anybody else been called by dealer???

Sunday, I was called by the dealer (Raceway in Riverside, CA) I bought my 2006 350Z from explaining to me that I need to bring in my Z so they could exchange my alloys for chrome. They told me that it was a recall. So I did a search on my350z.com and a google search for all recalls reported to the DOT and had no results for this problem. They said they would also perform a "service" for my time.
Is this a BS way for the dealer to inspect my car for mods?? WTF??
Anybody else experience this??
I have 21K on stock tires....maybe a good thing?

I have the gunmetal alloys and I HATE the chrome rims. The person at the dealership tried to sell me on the chrome rims and told me how cool they were. If they want the rims, they can have the whole car!

Sounds suspiscious to me. I say don't do it, especially if YOU like the rims you have.

tell them you will take the wheels and just go home....don't let them touch your car but still grab the wheels then sell them on ebay or something

I smell a rat. I would play along with him just to see why he wants your wheels.

The teens that work there are nice. They fixed a problem on my sentra without even making me wait. Its the salesmen and the ones in charge that are asses. So i'd be careful. The service manager yelled at the kid for helping me so quickly and the salesmen wouldn't show me any Zs. I ended up going to Metro Nissan off of Adams. The service managers seem "nicer" there.

Thanks to everyone for their concern. I like the idea of taking the rims to the dealer so he can inspect them with out the car being present. I guess I should put the car on blocks. I will definately keep everyone informed as to what happens.

No. This is marketing at its worse. The chrome wheels are bait. You will get no new wheels, and be charged $199 for the service.

Nissan always calls me after I've had an oil change - to see if I was satisfied with the service. It's kind of annoying.

Ya ---I do a follow up with a few customers or particular jobs ( Major stuff ) But that oil change crap is just kissin ur butt. I give people credit for more sense.
That may work with a 65 yr old woman ( " They were so nice to chk on me, Such a nice young man " ) But it just comes across as BS to most people

* Leery of People that try to kiss my ****

I havent heard of any wheel recalls?

Send me your VIN in a PM and I can check and see if there are any recalls on your vehicle...

Gunmetal wheels? What do they look like? Are they aftermarket?

Save the chrome for the people who actually need it to help their image.
