Default Rev matching and double clutching

What do the terms "rev matching" and "double clutching" mean. I have driven MT for a long time and I may do these things but don't know the proper terms. Thanks for helping me out.

rev matching, when you downshift - blip the throttle, so that the rpms are the same when engaging the lower gear, it keeps the car from jerking and offsetting the car's balance (especially in turns).

double clutching isnt really needed anymore since transmissions have syncros. if you do, do it ... it will help to prevent wear from the syncros making them last longer.

in older cars (without syncros) you would need to -clutch, take car out of gear, blip throttle, clutch, put car in the next gear.
