Agreed. It was just a WAG (wild @$$ guess). Not sure how wide you can go in a 16" street tire, but probably not wide enough to get solid traction.

Smaller and Lighter wheels reduce the opposing forces of spinning the tires, thus increasing effectiveness as outlined below. Heres the 'official' def.

1 : a force that produces or tends to produce rotation or torsion <an automobile engine delivers torque to the drive shaft>; also : a measure of the effectiveness of such a force that consists of the product of the force and the perpendicular distance from the line of action of the force to the axis of rotation
2 : a turning or twisting force

Another way to think of it is this....If you have a big bolt you need to loosen and you use a wrench that is 6 inches long, it may not budge, but put a 2 foot breaker bar over that wrench (so that wrench is now effectively 2 feet long) and now you've quadrupled the force you can exert on the bolt because you've lengthened the "moment" of your force by a factor of 4. Translate that scenario to the discussion at hand and "the road" is "you". The larger the radius of your wheel/tire, the longer the "wrench" you're giving the road to work against the torque your engine produces.

Interrestingly enough, a quick check on the posters of this topic will reveal that those who talk down on these wheels aren't listed as Z or G owners...

GO and get your own cars and get back to us with your perty setup...
