Default 2003 Best year??

This summer I will be looking into getting a 350z, but after reading up.
I know that 2003 is the fastest, becasue its the lightest. I have still have some high hopes for the "new" 306hp motor that the 2007 has. But if it doesnt fall below 5 seconds 0 to 60mph , then I will go for the 2003.

is the 2003 the right choice?

03 has a lot of problems, go with an 04 or 05.

Go drive the different years, there is a difference in performance between the years. I think your right that the 03 are faster but I have an 03 too. I test drove an 07, I liked it. But there aint much of a diff.

if you're that desperate for tranny/tire feathering problems, go get yourself an 03. =)

I have an 03 with brand new transmission, and I pull cars on later model Z's, even before my mods. I have performance trim, though which is bare of most options, and light as hell.

check my sig....03 FTW.

in all seriousness....its hit or miss with 03's, you really dont know what kind of problems you're going to get but there were lots of service bulletins and warranty repairs that should/could have been performed by the PO just make sure you ask questions and know what you're getting.

the feathering IMO wasnt a huge problem i had it...but learn to use the search function theres literally thousands of threads on 03-04 issues. search words..."grinding" "feathering" "streak" "bose" "clicking"..etc

I have an 03 and I have no problems at all with feathering or tranny. I would just test drive it and see how it runs, thats what I did. Having the base, the lightest I can pull on other Z's in later models too.

Alot of people have had issues with there tranny, and alot of people have not. But you typically won't find a thread saying "03 tranny in perfect working order" only the other way around.

Every year has its issues.

Even with trans problems, it's warranty covered my *** and I paid 0$. Zilch.

Buy an 03, save 10+k$, use it for FI. My .02 cents.

a z will not be a sub 5 sec car.. sorry. you hAve too high hopes.

and I am pretty sure the weight difference between 03-05 is not that much

my 03 weighed 2250 last weekend. I have a base model as well, so lighter seats... and I have lighter wheels and no spare at the time

03 seem to have problems because it the first year 350z was introduced. Anyway, most of those problems will be cover under warrenty....so, just do some research about the one that you going to buy. The previous owner might have already fixed those problems.
