You only need two, but those additional 4 holders will come in handy
when you need to carry some Mobile 1 bottles once your engine starts burning oil

(I hope the new HR doesn's have that problem though)

I really hope this HR doesn't burn oil like the rev-up either.

Since this new engine is supposed to be the workhorse for most of Nissan's & Infiniti's important cars, it seems as though they did their homework on reasearch and development to produce a quality engine. Nissan was able to built the old VQ pretty well while coming back from near bankrupcy, so I could only imagine this new engine being much better with a lot more money to spend on R&D, the second time around.

Nice writeup, thanks for the impressions. I was thinking about waltzing into the dealer one of these days and conning them into a test-drive... lol. I think I'll have to do that soon here!

Could not agree more with your assessment of the HR engine. It has that racer feel to it, you always felt the Z deserved. It feels like a refined engine with top end pull. Less domestic more JDM/German.

Really hard to pull the trigger if you own a Z already IMO

The new G coupe is right around the corner. We have seen the vast improvements Infiniti has made with the 07 sedan versus previous generations.

I feel we are at the age where Nissan has survived the troubles, and is now focusing more on quality. I evidence this by the G sedan and I'm sure the upcoming G coupe.

Also the 3.7 is probably right around the corner... New Z in 09???

Yup, kind of hard to decide when you already have a Z, especially knowing there will be a redesigned Z in '09 or around that time. Whatever it may be, though, I have a feeling that the things rolling out of Nissan's factory in the near future are nothing short of good products, as the new '07 Z and G35 sedan are only the beginning. If you're a car enthusiast, the near future is an exciting time! Decisions, Decisions, Decisions....

Anyone notice how much room there is between the front grill and the radiator (compared to the previous 300ZX)? Twin-turbos/intercoolers for 2010!

Congrat’s on being such a internet thug! I am ecstatic that you could inform me of my need for English/Grammar/Spelling skills, which I am surely lacking!

Well since I was so sure this was a car enthusiast forum, I must be mistaken. It is a English class, ONLINE! Wahooo.

Go **** yourself.

You're missing the big picture, though. Compared to the 287hp VQ, the HR has 6 lbs ft less torque (274 vs 268) and six pounds less is nothing; however, it more than makes up for it with 19 more horses (287 vs 306) that are spread over an even higher redline. The stock 287hp VQ is not on the same performance level as this new HR.

I test drove an 07 last week, was impressed with the smoothness of the new HR engine and I felt the extra power, could be the extra 500 rpm, but I felt that it road manners was too supple, lost the aggresive feel, almost kinda like a Lexus. Does not warrent a trade in for my 05 anniversery...going to keep my car until I see the 09 GTR or might keep it and go FI.

Congrats, the feeling of driving home in a brand new Z is awesome. If I didn't already have a Z, it would make my decision a lot easier lol. Enjoy that drive home when you get it, if you haven't already gotton it. It's an awesome car!

Are the rings on the gauges something you could add to an older Z? Sounds interesting. The gauges are kinda bland.

You would probably need to buy the inside gauge housings, but it seems possible.

yea i just went from the 287 to the revup and im happy im confident that the revup can hit 300rwhp thats my goal besides laughing gas . To me though the revup was a beta engine so to speak for the HR . The peak hp and the 30% refinment in the internals was enough for me for now until the GTR comes around. The HR before it settles and the aftermarket starts will be in the GTRs shine. Which people with revups and des will be making more power then there currently making . Its like do you really want to start all over and be waiting while 287s and revups are passing ya until you get a solid mod for your HR or just FI a revup or a 287 and get the results you will proabbly get either way with teh HR. Yea the block is better etc but with the current 287 showing 9psi being no problem with a perfect tune at 400rwhp. And the revups showing a little more power to be had. I have not been convinced to trade in at all , just to glare at the tiny twin intakes and dream of the potential. When the 380 rs ever comes out or the limited edition 3.7HR that there rumouring then that will get me. As for now . Rev-up man. lol

Aren't 07's held to the new ratings for power? So if they were on the old rating, they would actually be higher? Can someone verify this.
