You will not find a clean '05 with decent Km's in can, for that price.. Maybe an '03 with at least 70k+ km..

If you are looking south of the border, I am sure you can score an '05 enthusiast for $25k US, but it would probably have some mileage on it..

Good luck & happy hunting!

R
US$25k. To my surprise, I'm finding 2006 Enthusiast models for $24-$25k with 10-15k miles on them. While that may be high mileage, I have 46,000kms on my GTI after 3 years and 3 months, so I will not put on too many more miles on the Z.

plumpzz, thanks for the suggestion. I think I'm growing partial to the 2006 Enthusiast models... coming from a GTI, I'm a bit of a dash stroker, and 2006 should have better materials, better xenons and taillamps, nicer wheels (for daily driving) and they smell newer.

Now, if I can only sell my GTI!

Can anyone recommend a Nissan dealer in the North East? Thanks.

Or did anyone deal with CarMax before? They have what I want, but they would have to transfer it in from out of state for $850. At least that's what their website indicates.

Thank you.

i'd spend an extra couple grand to get an '07 enthusiast if you are taking a loan out, monthly payments won't be much more- loans on a new car can be had at a lower interest rate- you have full warranty- you could easily spend an extra couple grand fixing a used car- resell on a 1 owner title is better- and you get a brand new car with the HR engine

also the thing with the 06 and the 'rev-up'n engines is that you might run into oil consumption problems

Well, my options are limited because I'm importing whatever I buy to Canada. This means:

- car has to be titled for at least 6 months in the States prior to exportation otherwise factory warranty is void (don't ask, it's in the Nissan Warranty policy)
- extended warranties are non-trasnferrable outside the U.S.
- since I'm not buying new from a dealer, I'm looking at a used car bank loan rates around 8%
- I don't have extra budget beyond my US$25k limit.

Should I consider an 05 enthusiast? 287hp, but no oil consumption issues, worse interior materials (especially the seats), no HIDs, no LED tails, no nice 18" wheels. That's what's drawing me to 06 if I can find one within my means.

Lets see 2005 Supposivly the lightest weight.
No hids? my enthusiast comes with HID"S and so does every other one, only 2005 base doesnt come with HID.
No nice 18 inch wheels to slow you down? bah!

Way i see it im lighter and faster with my 17 inch wheels.

Thats my opinion i enjoy the performance of my 2005, i admit those 18 inch wheels look nice but hopefully i will look nicer when my Z passes yours hehe.

I'd buy an 04, 05, or 06 Enthusiast, maybe Touring, with the least amount of miles.

Given you are buying used & live in Canada, I think your trying to be to precise in what you choose (just right wheels, etc.). All Enthusiasts have HIDs.

By the way, leave room in your budget for snow tires; you will need them.

Just occured to me: you might want to add the Performance model to your list. It has VDC (good for snow/ice country), 18" wheels, & TPS. It was made through 05 or 06.

You can tell if its Performance by VDC & 18 inchers but no Bose or leather and no Brembos.

Thanks everyone.
I'm pretty set on a 2005 now. Also, after browsing around, I found that prices in Canada may not be that bad after all when I factor in import costs. So, now I'm looking here as well for a 2005 Performance model.

350pl, thanks for the offer. I would most definitely consider it be it not for the fact that yours is white. Sorry, but that's not my color.

I would go for an 04, 05 enthusiast, I have owned a revup 06 for about a year, and now own an 04 enthusiast, and the non revup is allot more fun for DD. It would be better for what you want from it. The 06's though dont weigh as much as they are advertised, this I know for a fact. My 06 weighed about 70lbs lighter then what the net says. But after driving both, I gotta tell you Torque is so much more fun!

Well, I'm still on the hunt for an 05 Enthusiast.
Do you think 44k miles is too high a mileage for one? They're claimed to be highway miles. I'll be driving it daily and use it for a few trackdays. Would this mileage be ok if it was well maintained?

You can do alot better than an 05 with 44,000 miles. And if you want to track it, you will end up doing a few mods because the speed bug will bit you. And if you buy the car with the mods done already, you will most likely save a bnuch.

I am going to be selling my car shortly. Here is what you could have for probably just a few bucks more:

2004 track model with just over 6,000 miles on it, Stoptech 14" F&R w/sttel braided lines, Tien Flex suspension with cockpit EDFC, DC ceramic coated headers, High flow cats, Nimso Exhaust, 9.5" 265/40/18's up front & 10.5" 295/40/18's in the rear really light Enkei's, Koyo 3 row racing radiator, Motordyne 5/16" intake spacer, Oil pan spacer, Jim Wolf Tech Pop charger, underdrive pully, 11 lb. Braille racing battery, tinted windows, custom larger power steering and oil coolers and a 3M clear bra on the front including the lights & mirrors. It still has that new car smell...that's how little I have driven it. The car is mint and shows pride of ownership.

I would think that something in the mid to high $27K range, or so, would buy this car...perhaps a bit less if it's cash on the barrel head, as we used to say in the old days. If you are interested, or anyone else is, pm me.

My 2nd choice of those options might be the 03 Track just for the Brembos and because that's a more rare vehicle.
the 2004 pulls harder then the 05 and 06? and also what package would you have to get on a 2004 for the 18 inch wheels

I think Ztalker may not have read your initial posting where you stated you would be tracking and autocrossing the car. Drive one with and without a LSD and I think you'll see why they are so important for what you will be doing...even if it is a few times a year.

No disrespect Ztalker...just not sure you saw that. Base 350Z's will only frustrate eeZee for the usage his car will see. At least that is my .02.
