Cool Going from a 93 Rx7 R1 to a 350z

Im in the process of rebuilding my rotary and doing a street port, after that im getting a 99 spec bumper, skirts, and wing. Paint it and then its going for sale.

I just cant deal with it anymore, ive owned FDs for couple years now and they kill me lol, fix one thing and another goes wrong.

SO im going back to normal engines... cant wait.

Hope to have a good time on this forum.

Well thats the stereotype i guess.

you just need to take more care of a RX7 than normal cars. And i did but somethings you just cant do.

The biggest thing that hurt me are the rebuilds and gas mileage.

Default RX-7's

I absolutely love 3rd gen RX-7's but have never owned one due to the reasons above. (Although I've come very close to buying one several times despite the many known issues.) I did a ride along in one with a really skilled autocrosser on sticky tires and the capabilities of that car are nothing short of amazing. But, alas, the cost of maintaining the 3rd gen RX-7 was prohibitive for my budget.

My neighbor had a 3rd gen that he built the crap out of. Beautiful car with great performance. But as you stated above, we were doing rebuilds every 3-5k miles on the engine. When it was stock it needed a rebuild about every 40-56k. The cost of owning one and building it is crazy... You could almost of bought a 70k+ car in the end.

Well owning a 2nd gen turbo 2 is not that bad at all I went to a junkyard found one for $600 bucks spent about 2k into restoring it. Found a nice diesel turbo on ebay slapped that ***** on with a $100 ebay special T4 manifold lol threw in 1000cc injectors and a SAFC and that little rotary would go flying lol....I have to say its slighty slower than my Boosted 350z at half the cost of my damn kit lol....Best part is I turned it around and sold it for $3900. Now if i can only find another one heheh...

I can hear it now; three months from now...

"WHY DID I SELL THE FD?!?!" I mean the Z is so cooooollll and up to date and, and, and... I want my FD too!!!"

HAHA!

Nah, man, the Z is sweet, and the FD is just like a super model, high maintenance; pretty to look at, but a relationship "NO NO".
