Default Weird accident with my Z.

So I'm driving home on the highway on 2/23 and all of a sudden I see a wheel come on the highway and then it bounces and hits my car. See pics. Anyways, had to have it towed to Nissan body shop. Apparently the guy's wheel came off going the other way on the highway, bounced over and hit my car. He has no insurance at all, luckily I do, but damn this sucks.

This happened on 2/23/07, I finally get to pick the car up today, but I am a little nervous on anything being wrong with it after the fact. I know they had to replace the lower control arm and the steering knuckle as well. So I'm hoping there will not be any future problems down the road with the suspension.

Any ideas? Has anyone had a collision like this with suspension replaced? How has it been since the accident?

By the way these pics were taken with my Cell...1st 2 are before being fixed and the last 2 are after they just got it done without washing it yet.

that is a weird accident. WTF is up with everyone not having insurance? Not us, but it always seems like the other people never have insurance. I still remember the thread of that kid who wrecked his Z driving it in the snow with summer tires and had no insurance bahahah

I don't want to spend anymore money is the thing. It only has 22,000 miles on it for an 04, not bad.

I just wanted some reassurance that any suspension work that people had done in the past has actually been ok.

Doesn't look like any frame damage. Future problems solely rely on the competence of the shop who repaired your car. And just because they might have a "guarantee repairs for life" policy doesn't mean you won't have to fight tooth and nails to get them to pay for work after they got their check.

of course they have to realign the headlights, or else one side will be off from the other.

I can't believe there are still states that don't require insurance to register a car.

Indiana does require insurance to register a car, but all one has to do is get it for that day and then cancel it afterward.

Here in Mass, in order to cancel your insurance you have to show proof that you turned your plates in at the registry.

sorry to hear about your Z. I had similar repairs and my only complaint was that my insurance only replaced 2 tires (1 front and 1 rear on opposite sides so now it sounds funny and is forcing me to buy 4 new tires.

RE insurance....you dont need to show insurance in illinois but you will get a ticket if caught driving without. same thing happened to my grandparents from a tow truck's extra tire from the opposite side of the highway. it went right through the windshield and totalled the car. they were not serioulsy hurt thankfully.

That's crazy. Good to hear that you (and other drivers on the road at the time) are all okay. And good to see that they got your Z back in shape. Check with the repair shop though about the headlights to make sure they adjusted them and also check them out tonight when it gets dark.

File a police report and talk to your local prosecutor. My brother got rear-ended by some guy in a F350 up at Purdue. He went to pull over, and the other driver just took off. My bro got the plates, called the police, and 4 months later got a check from the state to cover the damage after they prosecuted the guy. He got hit with driving without insurance, and fleeing the scene of an accident.

Oh Boy...

Hope you get the best out of your insurance, dealership etc.

One a side note - When I saw your pics, I thought it was an 07 - the color looks like the new solar orange. But since you said it's 04, I am guessing it is the LeMans.

+1 Love it when idiots are held accountable for their actions.

That was a wierd accident. Were you on I70? Did you hood escape without any damage at all? Did the loose wheel take a big hop over your car? Did Andy Mohr Nissan do the repairs? Looks like the repair went well. Sorry for all the questions but i am very curious. Maybe i'll see you around as i am a fellow Hoosier.
