No, because the engine is what usually defines a car from the factory. So say, you swap an RB26, you'll forever be nicknamed a Skyline by some new enthusiasts. Just like some do with those 240SX's with those swaps.
Besides, you should keep one of the best V6's ever produced. (my opinion)

No...it it is no longer a Z. A castrated man is no longer a man. Better yet a man that underwent a sex change is no longer a man. He becoems an IT. A Z with some weird engine is an IT not a Z

So the GT500 JGTC cars with the VK45de's are not true Z's?
I would conjecture that indeed, they are.
They are probably the most pure to the ethos of a Z car anyways. In a sense, the glorious production car we all own is just a castrated version of the JGTC car.

The chasis is what defines the car and what it is. So what your saying is if you see a rx-7 on the street with a engine swap to a ls2(zo6) you consider that car a nice a** rx-7 or a corvette. Do you get what im trying to say? Cuz i would say dang thats a nice a** RX-7

when I put a vette engine in a camaro I didn't get to rebadge the sides.....to me, the frame makes the car, a VW based kit car is still a VW, a 240 is not a skyline and an RSX is still faster.

I think the total package makes it a "Z." It is kind of how I felt sitting through F&F:TD and watching them emasculate that beautiful Mustang chassis. Was that a Mustang after the switch? It didn't feel right to me anyway.
