I'm sorry but, all them Porsche Cayman people talking about Porsche is better just sickens me. Yes, 'PORSCHE' is better, but the Cayman??? Come on, you don't see Lamborghini and Ferrari making 'economy' models now do you. It's like saying I drive a C-Class Benz and bragging about it. It's a friggin C-Class Benz dude!!!
I just have this mentality that when I'm buying something, I want the best of it. If I'm buying a Porsche, I buy a PORSCHE, not some little sister looking for big brother to back me up on the street when a car that cost half the money starts bullying me.
I bought the Z cause it is (until the GTR releases) the best performance car Nissan put out. I couldn't buy the best of the Z, but I have the platform to build on progressively. I've bought everything, I just need the Brakes now.
If I could buy a Porsche, it'd have to be one the big boys.

Just my opinion. Maybe I'm ignorant, but so mote it be.

I used to say the same thing until the Cayman came out. I've driven 911's, Caymans, Boxsters (Z's too!) and the Cayman is the best balanced out there. Not the most powerful, fastest, etc but the best balanced. I've come through the ranks of sports cars and the Cayman fits my needs. The Z obviously fits yours and I'm happy for ya. Drive them all and then see what your opinions are. The 911 has a rep but after I get out of one I still like the Cayman better. Is it a 'real' Porsche? Not sure what you mean but that's what it says on it... We all have one thing in common and that is sports cars. Happy motoring guys. Congrats on the poll win and give the BMW hell if that's what's next! I like the attitude you have for your Z's.

I've heard this arguement before, and I know I'm being ignorant, becasue I've never driven a Cayman. People that do, say the sam ething. It's well balanced! I guess everyone can't be wrong.
I see your point, and maybe I wish I could be happy with a car the way it is. But call me stupid, but I like to 'fuss' with my car. Make it faster, give it a different look (not ricey, lol), etc.
I just think (and I'm no car expert), that the Z is a better car to 'fuss' with. The Porsche, is something you don't want to do too much with when it comes to looks and power. It basically comes maxxed out in my opinion. The only option would be to buy an entire engine and body kit from Gemballa (or whoever else).

Anyway, power to you bro! You are content with what you drive, and thats good. I am a huge Honda fan. I switched to Nissan because I felt that the s2000 was too small. I still love Honda, and I think I always will because I've had so much fun with them. I'm a car enthusiast, and I never thought I would jump into anything other than a Honda, but here I am. I hope I get to try different flavours throughout my life, until I come to complete satisfaction with an Aston Martin... Then I can rest in peace. LOL!!!

I just have this mentality that when I'm buying something, I want the best of it. (So what you are saying is that everything south of a Carrera GT is **** and you wouldn't drive it? What package does your Z have?)If I'm buying a Porsche, I buy a PORSCHE, not some little sister looking for big brother to back me up on the street when a car that cost half the money starts bullying me.
I bought the Z cause it is (until the GTR releases) the best performance car Nissan put out. (No, a Skyline GTR is...you can buy them here too, and if you wanted it new...it is just a matter of money, it can be done.) I couldn't buy the best of the Z, but I have the platform to build on progressively. I've bought everything, I just need the Brakes now.

The PORSCHE that i think you are talking about is the Boxter, b/c the Cayman would have beat the 911 around NUR if it had a limited slip dif. The Cayman is no joke homie, and is definately not bottom of the line.

edit...i'm sorry...i was wrong, allow me to correct myself.

I hate the 911 Carerra just as much.... $70,000 for 320bhp??? Why bother?!?!AND they sound like a bug... No thanx. I'll take a Evolution or a Z over it anyday. (BTW, That's just my opinion, so don't let me seem liek I'm trying to tell everyone what to think)

We have GTR SKylines here too, but first of all, I'm not going to buy it for '$$$x' amount and then struggle to make it fast enough to race a little Integra. I can buy a Z for that money and make it fast enough for what I can handle.

I'm sorry if I stated 'the best' but did I say that if I was buying a Porsche I would only get the Carrera GT? I would though at least have something of supercar status that Porsche is known for.
Wouldn't the Carrera GT be comparable to Nissan's GTR??? Being that it's the fastest sports car they sell? I said I would want the GT2 or 3 at least, which to me would equate to a Z in the Nissan camp. No?

I wish I could buy a Honda NSX R, but I can't. I was going to go with a S2000, but they're a bit tight, and small. But the S2000 is one of the best cars Honda produces.

Put it this way. A Porsche is to a Honda, as a Cayman is to a Fit. I'm sorry, but when buying a car, I want a car above the average.

But all in all, You're right! Some people are satisfied their driving a Porsche, no matter which it is. Just like driving a C-Class, just to say you have Benz, and so forth. Power to them If that makes them happy.
